I bought this to use on a two month kayak trip to British Columbia where I will need to set up in some places that you can only use a hammock and some places that require a self standing tent. The Crua works well as a hammock but still has alot of sag despite the crossbars. On the ground, its essentially a bivvy sack – I was unable to sit up inside it. It is waterproof, but you get the usual condensation problems that occur with a small one person shelter. Its a pretty good hammock shelter, but its not really functional as a ground tent.

I love my Crua hybrid. Designed in Ireland, its great here in Pacific Northwest. So far I’ve only used it in miserable conditions, and it worked great! I cannot wait until Springtime weather hits so I can go string it up near a stream and open the flaps. Very well-designed.

I have not slept in the hammock yet, but I did find it to be a very good hammock. It is small and lightweight, and easy to setup (tried in my living room). The most satisfying part for the hammock was Crua’s customer communication.
I got this hammock for my upcoming camping kayak trip in December. Due to international shipping disasters, I got this hammock so late. During that time, Crua’s communication was excellent although it was busy the year end holiday season.
Thus, I had to cancel the order, and got my refund. However, shortly after I got the refund, I have received the hammock also. Since I had to get another hammock for my trip, I no longer needed the Crua’s hammock, and want to return the hammock. However, Crua told me to keep the hammock although the late shipping was not their fault at all. I think Crua puts the customer satisfaction at the highest priority.
Highly recommend this company!

Used it camping for the first time. Let’s just say it rained and I know it. Water leaked in all the bottom seam and soaked the bed. when its cold and wet its not fun

Straight forward great experience. Product is as described but is lighter than expected. Dispatch was timely which arrived 3 days earlier than estimated delivery date.

The idea was great but it just couldn’t be pitched as hammock tent as you couldn’t a) get enough tension on it to support any weight b) enough tension without weight to stop the fly sheet zip opening. The were very poor instructions and seemed to relate more to it being used on the ground. If you wanted a ground tent you could get better for much less.
We had it pitched around 4 ft off the ground and when we attempted to sit into it we were straight on the floor . And when we then tightened things up it still didn’t help and flysheet would not stay closed.
After this the shape of the tent was distorted to. It’s definitely not light weight but the bag supplied was a good size. The pegs were a bit dangerous as if you were to use you foot or hand to push into the ground you could do yourself an injury. So you would need a mallet so more weight. Only 1 extra guys supplied for steadying once pitched too. Nice idea but needs to go back to drawing board .

Like the title says…avoid this hammock. It is poorly built and has lots of issues.
First off the plastic raintarp connectors will and did break on the hammock.
Second, the lining that reflects heat also retains moisture. By the time the morning rolled around the interior tarp was dripping wet.
Third the tarp doesn’t cover enough of the bridge lines. This allows water to soak the lines…which then will soak your back as it works its way into the hammock.
Avoid this hammock at all costs unless you plan on only using it when it’s 70 degrees and sunny out.
