We bought this to use as a shelter over a picnic table when camping. It’s a nice shelter, be advised however that it takes a lot of room to set up, also takes 2 people to put up and down. It has a much lower profile than we expected. Be advised if you are over 5 feet tall you will be ducking in and out of this, the plus size of it’s lower profile is that you are pretty protected from weather. If you are looking for something more along the lines of a pop-up shelter, this is not for you. It is billed as a beach shelter, it would be perfect for that.

We used this tent to go over a picnic table on a camp site at the beach. It was easy to put up and after 4 days it was easy to take down. Yes it swayed in the sea breeze but it did not break. It was rather hot underneath and a little low for tall people, but it did its job to keep the worst of the sun off us as we ate — excellently. We intend to take it on shorter trips so we will see how it stands up to being put up and taken down all the time.

Quality and thoughtful design I have come to expect from Big Agnes. I wasn’t sure I would like it because poles go through sleeves and I prefer clipping my tents to poles, but the poles went easily through the poles and pushing them out of the sleeves wasn’t too bad. It does help keep the roof strong and tight. It fairs well in moderate winds. We use it car camping, and for Girl Scout cookie booths. Light enough even my youngest can help carry, and it’s compact size leaves room for passengers or cookie cases in my car. It does require two people to set it up.

Corkscrew sand anchors will work up to about 12-13mph wind on a beach. Above that, even if stakes hold, bungee poles will become structurally unreliable. Not great for coastal beaches.

I bought the big Agnes one month ago and already the sleeves for the polls are fraying and holes are appearing. I’ve had to use duct tape to try to stem the damage. I tried to contact the seller through whatcampingtent.com but the procedures to do that are cumbersome. It’s a great size and it looks great, but think twice because of the sleeve issue.
