   We used 2 sets of pairs (4 poles) for camping with a 16 ft x 26 ft tarp for a leanto effect over our tent and food prep area, these we at the front out above or lent door and with paracod and stake tie downs worked wonderfully. It was not windy though. In the picture only the front 4 are this brand.

   We got these poles to use with our Kelty Noah’s Tarp. We chose them because they were significantly cheaper. They worked great, held up during a rain storm. They also have a great carrying case allowing us to just throw them in our camping bins. We’ll probably get 2 more to allow our Kelty tarp to be free-standing.

   I love these poles! They’re light, durable, and a fantastic deal if you’re trying to set up a sturdy tarp shelter on a budget. I used them with a Kelty’s Noah’s Tarp with no problems whatsoever. They’re not as tall as the Kelty collapsible poles, but one Kelty collapsible pole is the same price as this Mountainsmith set.
