Great tent stakes. They hold pretty darn well and the anodized treatment makes them pretty easy to clean off. For my smaller tents they work great and don’t weigh too much. The usual tent I use these with is a mountain hardware trango 3. I tried them with my springbar tent and they didn’t work so hot. The tent stake locations are metal hooks and I had trouble catching the hooks and holding them with these stakes.

I bought two sets of these to pitch a tent on the beach. They are worth every penny! We had high winds (at night especially) and my tent didn’t budge.. I watched several tents come out of the ground.. I was so grateful to not have to deal with chasing my tent down and re staking it.. Thank you MSR for making a stake that grips in loose sand so tight that you have to work a little bit to get them out! I used a rubber mallet to drive them in so I wouldn’t do any damage to the tops.. Worked perfectly!

Die Heringe sind super für sandigen Boden. Aber nicht wirklich was für Sand und Schnee, dann lieber Anker. Die Cyclone sind sehr lang und nichts für langes Trekking gedacht.

I have one Eureka Spitfire tent that is fairly light but is not self supporting. I also have lightweight multi-person tents that are larger too. I have found that my titanium stakes work great in dirt but in some gravel or rocky areas I needed a longer stake to keep it in the ground. I only use these stakes at critical points (2 for the Spitfire and 4 on the other ones) when I think I might need them for the soil type under the tent. If I expect good dirt I leave them at home since they do weight a little (OK, a lot) more than my titanium stakes. These are also good for the 2 key points on my Kelty Noah Tarp since sometimes short stakes just won’t stay in the soil in high winds. I highly recommend them because they are strong, have a great grip in the soil and are fairly light for their size.

Best tent peg on the market. Would recommend them to anyone who doesn’t want their tent to blow down. A little more expensive than others, but so much better value.

Love MSR stakes as a default upgrade. You can’t go wrong. Only upgrade from here is if you are going ultra light backpacking and thru hiking and even these can fill that role initially.

I was quite skeptical of the engineering of these stakes upon receiving them. It seems like there isn’t much for them to attach to, but once you put them in the ground hooked around your tent’s stake loops, you’ll see just how much holding power these have. They kept my tent in an immovable position in 60+ mph winds sitting on lightly packed sand, and actually made me worry that I was going to have to cut my tent from the ground when it was time to pack up.
I can’t even imagine not owning these stakes after that experience. And they’re so lightweight I feel I could throw them in with my backpacking gear and not even blink about the weight. Though, I hope I’m never in a situation that would require these stakes to hold down my ultralight tent. If you’re planning on camping in some less than ideal weather and want to be extra certain of your tent’s ability to not wander off, grab some of these and feel comfortable that your camp will still be in place when you return from your day’s expeditions. Grab two sets of them and ensure that your guylines will be as tough as the rest of your tent.

I’ve replaced all of the cheaper, lower quality stakes in my kit bags with these. Nearly unbreakable, superior holding power and long enough to work in semi-loose soil. I use them for all of my tents and tarps.

Strong tent stakes are usually much heavier. These might not be satisfactory for gram counters on a backpacking trip where ounces count and titanium is preferred. But 35 g (1.2 oz) each is significantly lighter than my other stakes used for windy conditions or sandy soil. These might not seem worth the cost … until you need them.
