   I’ve had this in some high winds and it held together pretty well. I’ve also had it in a lot of rain after those high winds and it kept me dry. It’s a good size, easy to set up with all the added loops, pretty light compared to other tarps ive had but still not the lightest, looks nice, thin, but most of all it protects me from the rain.

   Pros: definitely lightweight. Tarp seems well stitched and durable. It is also HUGE. Cons: everything other than the tarp is fairly to very cheap. There’s no instructions/recommendations (at least a wind rating would be nice). Details: The tarp has 5 light plastic rings and it comes with 5 or 6 long, thin cords with rectangular bits on the end. I ended up threading one through the other (pic 1) and wrapping the rope around each tree. (So I had my hammock between 2 trees, the tarp above it similarly, staked on either side). So, the stakes: 4 red aluminum (pretty sure) stakes with rope loops on the end. Way too big for the little plastic ring on the tarp, if you’re wondering. So I took the ~6′ rope and tied it to the stake and tarp, leaving a lot of it on the ground. The stakes are so flimsy that it’s difficult to drive them without bending them (pic 2. This was the second use.). I’m not very big or strong. They also came up rather easily with only a bit of wind, especially on the side that drove easily due to soft soil. So I ended up several times with one or both sides flapping stakes around and having to redrive them in the rain. The first time I used it (decent sized storm) it worked rather well. Annoying to put up but kept me dry. The second time was just as annoying but I had way more issues with the stakes, including one (pic 3) breaking when I tried to bend it back (by hand- again, I’m pretty small). I’m probably going to get steel stakes like my tent and maybe hammock straps and carabiners to make it easier. Edit: I emailed support and they replied very quickly and were happy to send me replacement stakes. +1 star for customer support! Please let me know if I’ve missed an instruction pamphlet, wind ratings, directions, etc. I’m happy to update this if the mistake is my own.

   This is exactly what a rainfly/tarp/footprint should be! It has a ton of tiedowns allowing you to create any size/shape shelter you need! The tiedowns are perfectly spaced and not randomly spaced.

   My only suggestion is why doesn’t anybody make a stuff sack big enough that you can get the product back in after using it.

   Purchased the Gold Armour hammock a couple months back and was tired of using my small MEC scout tarp that was quite a bit smaller. So I found out they made a tarp too! This tarp is ideal size for hammock camping and general tarp needs! Not to mention how light it is for the price, size and all the tie-outs. Upon arrival I immediately put some shock cord on all the corners and now it even closes around the edges for a great seal. In the picture my fiancée and I combined two tarps to create “mega tarp” as she calls it, two hammocks and a decent size center area to hangout and talk in. Absolutely love this hammock, and we’re both so happy with the colours. Despite the snow it was only -2 C down to about -7 C but we were warm and dry.

   I am liking this tarp. It works perfectly for what I wanted it for. Making a nest for my hammock to keep the wind rain and snow out.
   Was thrilled that the plastic tie outs worked like toggles to hold the sides in like doors giving you full protection and keeps the warmer air in.
   The camo looks better then the pictures they show looks darker in person.

   Our friends have this tarp and after camping with them a few times, we decided to get our own. It’s not the lightest, most compact tarp, but it’s an excellent compromise, perfect for car camping, and way better than hardware store tarps. What really makes it special is the set up versatility with so many (quality) tie downs, especially when paired with GreenElephant poles. Tiedowns are smartly attached to minimize risk of tearing; survived multiple days of very high winds with no damage.

   I’m a Kayak Camper, so pack weight isn’t so much of an issue. Which is fortunate since this rain fly has a little heft to it. Not a whole lot, but it’s easily the heaviest piece of gear making up my hammock shelter. The tarp completes my set-up and is very much appreciated. Just the difference of having a wind break is worth putting a tarp up. I’ve just now got this tarp in the mail and I immediately set it up. Here are my initial impressions… Beyond the pack weight, what struck me most is in the quality. The material is dense, fine thread treated ripstop nylon, with a small mesh locking weave. The fabric should be very tough to abrade & tear. It’s well trimmed, with taped & sewn hemming all around & a double sewn ridge line. There’s 9 anchor points around the hem, one in the tarps center, with solid sewn backing tabs and heavy duty plastic D rings. I’ve fit two spare carabiners to the ridge line points to attach the tarp directly to my hammock support straps. The 12′ tarp extends well over a foot at each end of my Fox Outfitters double parachute hammock. Even with the tarp’s peak at over 6.5′, the sides extend well down below the hammocks hang, and blocks any breeze from blowing across the hammock. Anchor lines are high visibility para cord with tensioners. The tent stakes are anodized aluminum with 3 notches & each stake has a high visibility cord bite tied on each end, making them easy to spot & pull out the ground. Good attention to detail there, although, I only wish there were more than just 4 stakes included. Two tie points along the hem have tie lines but no stakes, although I do see how those two points may be best anchored to something off the ground to open the sides up. Not anchoring the two points mid way along the sides tends to let the sides come in or out when a breeze comes up. I’ll be getting two more anchor stakes to fill the need. Beyond all that, under the tarp there’s plenty of room under cover, protected from the elements. Since I just got the tarp and have only set it up I can’t describe how it will be in the rain, but obviously from what quality I see in it now, I have no doubt the tarp will easily keep things dry. Is it worth the price? Absolutely! Outside of adding two more ground stakes & not being a fly-weight tarp to pack along, I can’t find nothing against it. If you don’t have a tarp & need one, or if you need a tarp, but don’t have a lot to spend, definitely buy this one. It’s worth the price & more. October 2021 Update: Since my purchase in 2019, the tarp has lasted three summers of HEAVY use. I’m replacing the tarp not for any design defect, but for that the accumulated months of sun exposure has weathered the fabric & made plastic eyelets brittle. Nylon & Plastic can only take so much. The fabric has developed tears, & leaks. I’ve certainly got my money’s worth from it. I won’t be buying another though. Instead, my next tarp shall have metal eyelets & stouter web strap attachment points, no more plastic to break. I may spend more accordingly, but for my use, it’s needed. THIS TARP IS STILL A GREAT VALUE. It’s just for me, not able to go the distance.

    This is a well made tarp that comes with everything you need. Stakes seem durable, almost same construction as the MSR groundhog just a bit shorter. Time will tell but this seems to be as good as its higher priced counterparts, at a more reasonable cost. Very nice product. Buy it if you were like me wondering if you should spend $100 plus or not. You won’t be disappointed.

    This tarp is an excellent product. There are many tie out points (7 per side) with reinforced bar tack stitching. The plastic ties are perfect for the top of your tarp poles and for the includes guy lines, which are highly visible to avoid tripping at night! I like the rip stop fabric with waterproof coating underneath and the contrasting tape stitched along the sides. The seams are all tape sealed, and the storage bag is large enough to fit the tarp after use. There is a separate bag for the 4 stakes and 6 guy lines. Overall, I am very pleased with this tarp to provide shelter over the back of my truck, and the extra tie points give me lots of positioning options. My best tarp yet! Thanks
