   I haven’t tried it in the field yet, so cannot comment on its prime function. I’m reviewing the „used – very good“ category. And adding pictures so others may know what this category entails. My bivy came with two patches. Here I think it was to repair small tears before they rip all the way through. Some stains on the outside which is understandable after all it’s a used bag. But the black spots inside the bag looks like mold. Would love to know if all the reviewers giving this bag a 5 star had a similar „very good“ bag. This bag may still be waterproof but not sure it’s worth the money. I think the value should be closer to $25 and not $45 for this condition. I’ll consider if to return it or test it on my next camping trip. I’ll update it if I do. Today’s date 7/31/20 After contacting Ozark Outdoorz, Shawna was very helpful to exchange my good bivy to a very good bivy. It’s in near new condition. Thank you Ozark Outdoorz and thank you Shawna. 8/6/20 No new picture added as bivy now looks Like the one you see online.

   Having served in the US Army using this exact piece of equipment, I can say first hand that the item I recieved is high quality. While I can tell that the item was issued and used, I can also say that it is definitely not worn out or destroyed beyond use. There were no holes in mine, there was also no real wear on it despite it being listed as “Grade 2”. McGuire Surplus sells these items cheaper on whatcampingtent.com for some reason. The price difference was almost $10 between their site and whatcampingtent.com, so I bought it here on whatcampingtent.com. Im not a fan of UCP, but im just going to use this item for bivouacing and some field training ill be doing in the civilian side of things. I have no doubt that ill get many more miles out of this bivvy cover.

   It is indeed new, unopened and in perfect shape. And it appears to be a “Goretex-like” material, but I guess there is some question in the reviews as to whether it is the genuine Goretex brand or just a similar PTFE membrane material That doesn’t make much difference to me.
   I got this just to extend the temperature range of my 0° F sleeping bag (which is really only comfortable to about 25° F), but I have not tried it out yet. So I cannot vouch for the breathability or warmth, but it looks exactly like what I hoped it would be. It has a faint “plastic” or chemical smell that is not too bad, and maybe to be expected for a PTFE layer cover that has been stored, wrapped, and shipped in an almost air-tight plastic bag, so I am airing ot out. I don’t anticipate a problem in use.

   My bivvy cover came in surpriisingly good condition, has NSN, real military goretex bivvy from War Dog. It IS waterproof, when washed it holds water inside it like a bucket. You literally have to pour it out! Thank you….its in such good shape, very serviceable. NO PATCHES, no tears. Got the aboloute cheapest one, “acceptable” condtion. Hell yes. Weighs 29 oz. Major survival gear….get one for every BOB you have. This is military goretex in ACU, could not be happier, thanks War Dog!

   Got the used ACU MSS Bivy from McGuires and it was in excellent condition. No rips, tears, missing buttons or repairs. There were about four small areas that look like they may have had some seam sealer residue on. I wiped areas and they were clean. Took off one star for those, but they were not stains or soiled areas to be fair. Would order again if assured of receiving in this condition. Overall was great value for $40.

   haven’t had a chance to use it in the rain yet, but it’s well designed with two hefty zippers which allow two closure control methods and airflow between head and toe, heavy shock cord with strong tighteners, good stitching, heavy fabric. if the maker comes out with one like this with mosquito mesh across the head opening, i’ll consider it seriously
