I couldn’t set this up by myself. It kept folding in on me. Once I decided this isn’t going to work and was packaging it back up… it took me 4 tries over 30 minutes to get it folded back into its circle. Ugh! If you have someone to help then this may be perfect. Or if you are tall and have long arms it may work better.

This will be a Christmas gift to my youngest daughter who just got a new mini van. She is an avid camper along with attending festivals and other outdoor events. This was so easy to set up and seals out the elements nicely. Will be great for protection from all types of weather. Product is well made and stores in a small amount of space.

I do not recommend this car tent. It was near impossible to fold back into storage bag. Directions are unclear. If camping by yourself, no way this can be folded without help. Defeats the purpose of solo camping.

During windy night the top rods fell off soon and whole tent wobble the whole night. Not easy to go out in the night and in rain and fold it to avoid damage the car.

Took 15 mins to set up everything including the rainfly. Real spacious inside. It’s made for people like who just want a tent to sleep in and enjoy the whole day outdoors. No fancy setting. The rainfly prevent the water from morning dew coming in. It’s also a pocket tent for a spontaneous camping like I did. Easy set-up, easy breakdown. No complications.

I was able to put this tent on the back of our Metris mini van with a Thull folding bike rack and bikes in place. It does take some work to get it around the bike and the hitch, but it can be done. We wanted this to be able to set up in our campsite to reserve our site while we drive off for the day in our van. Although it comes with sand bags we are trying water containers, as water is easier to come by sometimes than sand, unless you bring the sand with you. It is a good but not perfect fit around the bumper. Imperfect mainly due to our hitch and bike rack. We use the storage bag it came in and another bag to fill in the gaps. The magnets are strong, but I plan on getting a few more to help with the gap around our hitch. I was able to put it back to its original size once, but don’t think its worth the struggle since we can fit it in the van in the semi-folded state. All the zippers worked well. When you disconnect your vehicle, you just zip and cinch that side closed. It does need to be secured at the four corners and with guide lines for wind protection. It comes with both a tarp for the bottom, and a thin fabric for one wall. I have an extra sunscreen that I can add to a second wall for more privacy. You hang them inside the tent, so they don’t have to be super secure, just pull the corners through the loops.

I want to love this tent so much, and I certainly prefer its pop open and easy set up over the other SUV tents out there where you’d have to fiddle with fiberglass rods that deposit pricklies in your hands. BUT it’s not private at all. What’s the point of upgrading and putting pvc weather proof covers over the windows but not making them be privacy covers as well? The whole point of getting a SUV / car tent is to extend your car space so you don’t have to change sitting down in the car. Now I have to find ways to string 3 shower curtains on all 3 of the faces. As a single woman camper this is not negotiable.
BUT other than that, like I said this is the best one out there. Set up is easy enough, even with one person. Just open it and pull the corner out FAST. I needed a step stool to install the roof rods but I think I will forego that step next time. Folding is something to get used to, if you have other pop open stuff like showers or windshield covers, it follows the same principles: fold in half and hold it there while you find the circles to lay on top of one another. It is still quite big when folded up (about 3 feet diameter) as others have said, so be aware for packing.

This is SO versatile! It has replaced both our Napier SportCove and our Ozark Trail easy-up canopy (with its wonky legs!). Set-up is a snap and super quick! Enough bug-free room for 2 large camp chairs and a camp table. They include 6 easy & strong magnets and decent stakes. There’s also several extra pieces of line and sandbags for wind. (We use those to make our beach Shibumi useable when there’s no wind, with a $5 pack of tarp clips). Quality of all materials is excellent. Its even easy to fold up! What a great deal!
