   What a great tent. This is our 3rd “instant tent” and we have donated all of our other pole style tents, except one 4-season tent. These are not meant to be cold weather tents and this one is not very tall inside for taller people to stand, but a great quality tent. This never leaked after 2 1/2 days of decent rain. If it is windy be sure and tighten down with the included stakes. If you want full stand up height you need the larger 9+ people instant tents like our other tents but we love this tent. It is a tight fit with a queen air mattress but it worked for our two younger teens for a week.

   My (tall) fifth-grader set this up completely by himself in NO time at all, and he’s not a tent expert by any means. It really is that easy to set up.

   I would not take this backpacking, because it is on the bulky side with a thinner floor and I don’t know that I’d trust it in extreme conditions.

   However, it is a super rock solid car camping tent that is convenient as heck, and definitely the tent I want with me if a sudden rain or onslaught of mosquitoes crops up before we’ve had a chance to set up camp.

   It’s a nice size, though like most 4-person tents, you’ll want to be on really good terms with your fellow campers if you actually use it for four people! With me and two kids, it was delightfully roomy.

   I was initially attracted to this tent mostly because it’s shape, it’s a cabin-style tent that’s quite spacious inside and realistically makes for a nice size for 2 people and their gear. The materials feel above average, everything seems durable and like it’ll last seasons of use. It’s fairly easy to set up but I wouldn’t really call it instant, although the frame does go up quite quickly just messing with the tie downs alone takes longer than 10 minutes, so that estimate is pretty generous. After it is setup, there’s a good amount of ventilation inside which is adjustable from pretty large windows. The shape of this tent also gives it a fairly high center height that makes moving around the inside easier and less cramped feeling, so that was a bonus too. Overall, it’s quite a nice tent and I really like how the design makes it feel larger than it is.

   This isn’t an expedition tent or something you’d use in the winter, but for the temperate months it does the job. 4 person size fits a queen or king size air mattress with some room to spare. Setup is quick and mostly painless due to the attached poles – which means much less to lose. The rainfly is more of a shade than anything else – it doesn’t cover the sides so you’ll have to have the windows and door portals fully zipped should you get caught in the weather. Fortunately there’s a vent at the top so some air will circulate. Unfortunately that’s where all your heat is going out during colder weather so be prepared to have a tent heater or really warm bags should you use it in the cold.

   The Coleman Skylodge tent comes in three sizes 4, 6 and 8 person. We got the 4 person version. The tent comes in a 3′ x 9″ x 8″ carrying bag along with rain shield, spikes and door mat. The carrying bag with the tent and everything weights in at 20.48 lbs. The first time you put the tent up take a little more time because of how its design, unlike other pole tents we have had. After remove the tent from the bag, you unfold it twice, then lift up on the poles that are already attached. The pole expand out from cam locks that are number 1 & 2. First extend the 1s then the 2s. The rain shield has one red bungee hook and three black. You simple put the red to the red one on the tent and the rest match up. Though you can do it with one person, it was easier with two. Inside center of the tent measures about 65″ (5′ 5″), with the side section less. We like everything about the tent, except for the very thin flooring material. After two uses, there is already a small hole from the camp site ground pushing/rubbing through. In the future, we will put down a tarp to help protect. On a windy 55 degree day, the tent was relatively warm and kept the wind out.

   Thoughts:

   – I can see this tent up, or take it back down in less than 8 minutes.

   – All materials are of good quality, and the tent is weatherproof.

   – While the tent can handle the listed adults occupancy, I would suggest one less per listed size.

   Bottom line:

   This is a nice tent that goes up, and comes back down, quickly.
