I used these very long fiberglass poles to make a wire arch for my garden so I could grow vining tomatoes. Time will tell if the arch will hold but it looks great and really holds it’s shape. I simply hammered four U-channel stakes in the ground about 7 feet apart, fed the poles into the U shaped channels, and zip tied them in. In this way, I made two identical arches. I then guided the wire over the arch, securing the wire mesh to the two poles with zip ties. It went very easily and looks great. With the rigidity of the wire and the U-channel stakes, it seems very strong and the purpose of the fiberglass poles is to simply hold a near perfect arch shape. I would have given the product a higher rating but the poles are thinner than I imagined – perhaps the diameter of a 10 year old child’s finger. The shock cord that holds them together is not particularly elastic and, while the poles will seat into the sleeves with a little help from the cord, it’s not as “snappy” as my tent poles are and does not pull the pole segments into the sleeves with a convincing amount of force. The spikes at either end of the pole are a nice feature.

We needed new tent poles after a mishap. These were perfect replacements for the Coleman tent! Thankfully no need to buy a new tent.
