The reason for only 4 stars is because the mesh got messed up really quickly, regardless of how careful we were with the tent. It never tore, but I’ve only used it for one backpacking trip.
Other than that, it was very light and compact. It was easy to set up. The rain fly buckled to the tent which made it easy and secure. The poles were nice and sturdy feeling. We camped on multiple ground types throughout the trip and it did great on all of them. Fit 2 smaller adults with our packs

This has been a great tent for the price. For a freestanding tent, this one comes in at around 4 1/2 pounds which is not too shabby. The poles feel like they are sturdy and the stakes are very lightweight. The rainfly gives you 2 vestibules both of which are large enough for your backpacks. The fly also comes nearly to the ground which does a lot to protect you and your equipment from rain. There is plenty of floor space for two people and your pads. I slept in there with my teenage sone and had plenty of room. It’s easy to put up and was sturdy. There was plenty of ventilation so we didn’t have any trouble with condensation.
The only thing I can say that would be a con is that it’s not super long if you’re tall. I’m 6’2″ and there are maybe a few inches to work with at your head and feet. I felt like I was trying to stay in the perfect spot so that I wasn’t touching the sides with either my feet or head. That being said, it really didn’t cause any issues.
If you’re looking for a backpacking tent that isn’t going to break the bank, this one is definitely one to look at.

I bought this tent for my son a few years ago. He tried it it out on the Appalachian trail in both cold and warm conditions in North Georgia. He took it to Iceland for a 2 week camping trip around the Island including backpacking in the very remote Hornstrandir region with crazy weather and winds and shared with a friend. It held up fine and they had no problems. The next summer, he car camped and backpacked solo around southern Norway for two weeks and experienced some heavy rain. Held up great. The only issue was one of the buckles broke on the rain fly, so he just had to rig it up by tying it instead of buckling. Other than that, it’s still in great shape. He’s also used in Florida for several short trips. We just sprayed it with waterproofing since it’s been 3 years, and was due. It’s lightweight, easy to set up, and can hold two grown men comfortably, or be used solo, but certainly doesn’t qualify as extra light. But less than 5 lbs for what you get is an absolute steal!
