   Was really excited to use this tent but it arrived damaged, theres a hole right in the bottom of it. Spending $650+ dollars on a tent, I expect it to come hole free. Just genuinely bummed about this. Customer service was phenomenal and they made it right, fully recommended the seller. Tested the tent out in -20f conditions and it performed well with minimal condensation. Easy to assemble and take down.

   This is a absolute wonderful tent and well worth the extra money to step up to a 4 season tent finally. I immediately felt it warmer inside on those colder winter nights, especially when you have to get out of your bag for something. Having 2 dogs in there breathing helps also, but still totally warmer than my Fly-Leaf. No condensation at all. Very tight fabric all around after setup, one handed zippers. Super easy set up. Single one piece frame almost self connects when opening. 2nd piece for the cover as well, just kinda snaps together. This tent was a game changer for backbacking and camping for sure. Highly recommended. MSR makes great stuff and this is no exception.

   I’ve owned this tent for over two years, and used it in conditions it’s designed for: cold, snow, winter. It’s held up quite well every time. I wouldn’t take this on a mountaineering expedition, but I’m sure it can handle deep winter camping or backpacking, overnight snowshoe trips with ease. My list below makes the cons seem larger than the pros, but all the cons are fairly minor, and more informative than serious concerns. Pros: Very lightweight for a true 4-season tent. Fairly easy to pack, and haul. But not cheaply made, at all. Not too difficult to set-up. Ventilation is just enough to keep condensation reasonable, while trapping enough heat. In the times I used it, I felt almost no draft from wind, which was impressive. Syclone poles are very light, and flex well without ever feeling like they will snap in high winds. You can (barely) fit two, 25″ wide sleeping pads in it, making it great for two people travelling light or one person seeking room. It also uses the universal MSR 2-person footprint. Numerous ways to guy the tent down in a bad storm. Comes with excellent tent stakes, though not snow stakes. Cons: Pricey. The set-up with the cross pole is awkward, despite having two doors, it takes some getting use to as you get in and out of it. Granted, this is what makes it a 4-season tent. The Syclone poles on other MSR tents have been problematic for some – they are not true carbon fibre, and have given people splinters, for example. The vestibules outside aren’t very large, making it more in line with camping tents than true snow/winter tents – only an issue if you are hauling a lot of gear perhaps, like winter sledding. The fly seems to barely cover the tent (see corner of tent in pic), not a major issue, but if you are in a snowstorm, blowing snow could block up next to the tent/fly, so you’d need to build a small snow wall around the tent. Not a major deal, but something to watch for. Due to the light weight, it uses thinner nylon than most other 4-season tents. But if you take care of your gear, and aren’t in extremely harsh conditions, it should hold up and last you for many years. If you are looking for a light winter tent, a 4-season tent, a tent for snow and bad weather, this is a really nice option with only minor cons. If you are looking for a true mountaineering/alpine tent, I’d look at the MSR Remote 2. If you want something between, are willing to carry an extra pound, and save a chunk of money, look at the REI Arete 2 tent.

   Weird angles and very small headroom in this tent. Makes it hard to sleep in It. So, be forewarned.

   I’d return it but it got dirty trying it out.
