   I finally was able to setup my Bear Grylls Easy Up Tent. I pulled it out of its bag and did not initially see any instructions. Oh well, I looked to see how it was folded and began to unfold it. I looked at its construction, pulled up the connected tent poles and had them locked into place. All this took under 5 minutes! I noted that the materials seem high quality and stitching is great! I have the 2 person tent and there is plenty of room for 2 people but not a lot of gear. The floor should hold up to lots of use. Ventilation without the fly is excellent and very good with it. Taking down, folding it up and storing it in its bag was easy. I FINALLY noted the sewn-in instructions on the inside of the bag! This tent setup was very intuitive! I could easly This is not your hiking type tent. It bulky and not lightweight for backpacking, but it fits my purposes! I like it and expect to have some nice campouts using it!

   Easily build and breakdown this tent whenever needed. Lightweight and sturdy. It’s constructed very well. It keeps the warm in, while it’s able to breathe and flo thru. It’s spacey and packs up thin.

   This tent is four stars based on the features and quality for the price, which is $129 at the time of this review. In my opinion, this is a solid tent, better quality than an average big box offering (although I could see this tent being one of the nicer ones sold in that type of store) but not fully up to par with the expensive premium tents from specialized outdoor adventure stores. There is one major design flaw, but you can decide for yourself if it is going to bug you. More on that in a moment. I am an outdoorsy person, who worked in the outdoor and adventure travel industries and I have both led and taken many camping and backpacking trips over the years. I have had and tested dozens of tents. First, this is not a backpacking tent. It is too bulky and also too heavy for that. For a camping tent it isn’t unwieldy, just know this one isn’t going with you on a self-supported multi-day journey. It is, however, a good choice for mild camping weather. What does that mean? Well, it’s a 2-3 season tent. I’d happily use this from late spring to early fall. Without the fly, it is entirely mesh except for the bathtub bottom, allowing you to enjoy the breeze, be out of the bugs, and look at the stars. You are also on display, because mesh. With the fly, you have full coverage; this is one of the things that makes this tent nicer than a lot of the cheaper alternatives, which don’t come with a full fly. The seams are sealed (taped, see photo) and this will help keep you dry. Now, with the fly on, you will keep more heat in, and it is also black, which means it will heat up in the daytime. In hot weather you probably want to pitch this in the shade. The tent went up super easy. Like 60 seconds easy. I also found break down quick, maybe 3 min to drop it down and get it back into the bag. There are instructions attached in the bag to help guide you. I found this tent very roomy for one plus gear and I would say two people who don’t mind being close together without a lot of extra stuff in the tent would be fine in it. This would also work well for a couple of kids or younger teens, or one parent and a child. Two big adults who don’t know each other that well? Probably a pass. It is roomy enough for me (6’ tall) to sit up in, and long enough for me to lay down in comfortably. There are places to attach a gear loft as well as pockets for your phone and keys. The tent has one door; no problem for me when I am solo, but my spouse prefers two-door tents. The fly goes on easy—it clips to the ends of the tent body and you can tighten it down with a simple tug. The guy lines are already pre-loaded with nicely visible orange rope, which is a nice touch. The zipper on the front by the door has Velcro tabs to help keep it covered. Time will tell if it just gets gross with debris stuck to it. The vestibule is good for boots. Now for what I feel is a design flaw: The fly has a “window” cut into it (see photo) at one end, so you can unzip it and look out through the mesh and/or get some fresh air. All well and good, except you have to open and close the zip from the outside. That means if it gets cold in the night or starts to rain, you need to get out of your cozy nest and go outside to zip it up. The fabric around the window also looks like it needs a pole or something to stretch it out a bit. The tent floor is one of the cheaper bits of the tent; it is that woven looking tarp material (see photo) rather than the nicer bottoms you see on premium tents. I recommend bringing a waterproof tarp or to put under it to help prolong its life. The zippers are no-name ones but seem decent. The tent bag fits the tent and fly, as well as the included stakes. Overall this tent is a good bet for mild weather camping for 1-2 people.
