Made with quality netting and well-stitched seams, this mosquito-proof “tent” sets up instantly — as soon as you release its elastic strap and let go of the loops. It has a zippered opening on one side only, but its symmetrical design lets you put your head or feet at either end. It has enough headroom to sit up inside the tent, and when you lay down the netting stays up and off your head. If you plan to sleep on an air mattress, I’d place this tent on top of the air mattress and not try to fit the air mattress inside the tent. Four small stakes and four guy lines are included. Folding it up and fitting it back into its zippered carry case is not an esoteric intelligence test. It’s terribly easy. Just read and follow the instructions (sewn into the carry bag), and/or watch the video demonstration included in the whatcampingtent.com listing. You only need to fold it onto itself once and then refasten the elastic strap. Poof! and Viola!

Full disclosure – a thunderstorm interrupted plans to test this out today. But out of the box it opens REALLY easily, popping into place. It feels roomy when lying in it. I’d appreciate some sort of padding in the bottom. But I’m looking forward to reading a book outside, enjoying a breeze while getting sun protection overhead and bug protection all over. It also folded back down easily and has a storage bag to keep it clean between uses.

I ordered this because my wife and I do a mission trip every year and we sleep in barracks and biting insects can be a problem. I had seen others with similar mosquito net tents so thought I would give this a try. I have not tried this outside but expect it would work well. The screen’s weave is tight enough and I could not find any gaps where an insect might get in. This is a nice, well thought out tent. When you take it out of the carrying bag and remove the strap, it basically pops up into the tent and you are ready to go. Some of the features I like are: 1) easy set up; 2) it is a good size for my wife and I. We are both under 5’7″ so not sure how it would work for a taller person; 3) door is easy to operate and has ties to keep it open but a good zipper to keep it closed as well; 4) there are a couple of hanging hooks inside; 5) it is relatively light weight; and 6) there are straps to attach it to a cot or air mattress. The one drawback is that the packed size is 26 inches in diameter so it probably cannot be packed into a suitcase so it would have to be a separate checked bag if flying. Taking it down is a little tricky but, there is a video demonstrating how to do it and once you do it once, it should be easy to do again.
