After several expensive canopy type overhead covers for my chicken coop, I got the rainfly temporarily until I found another suitable cover. Well, several months later I still have the rainfly up and it’s still keeping the area dry. It’s held up in wind, rain, snow (1 inch) and hail. For a very strong wind I usually hook it the fencing so it’s pointing down and the water flows downward.
The only thing for my set up that I don’t like is that I don’t have anything to attach the middle hook to for holding the middle up better so the water runs down, causing some pooling on the rainfly that I have to get rid of. But that is my set up. I am still glad I bought this and I will be using it throughout the summer.

This is a must-have if you camp or do much outdoors. I’d even recommend just keeping one in your vehicle. You can always use a tarp.
This one is very light weight and very compact when bundled up. Makes a great improvised shelter for getting out of the rain or keeping your stuff dry. You can also use it as a ground cover if you need one. The ties held very well and it has a center tie-point. The stakes are really sturdy but for god’s sake, make sure they’re easy to see as they’ll mangle your feet in the dark. I use brighter cordage so kids aren’t tripping over them when we camp.
I’ll probably be buying another just to have in the truck.

I purchased this for rain protection at camp while backpacking. It really helped as this is a particularly rainy season. It’s nice to have the secondary shelter while sitting out a storm at camp. The sewn in straps at all grommet locations worked like a charm and the stitching and seam sealing was perfect. No leaks, or rips to report. The whole package which includes the tarp, six stakes, and enough guy line to set almost any configuration up weighs slightly under two pounds (more then what I was looking for but the price was right). I gave four stars only because of the weight not quality.

Lets get this out of the way right now- The rope this comes with is junk. It’s most likely cheap polypropylene, as it’s slick and stretchy. I’ll keep the short guy lines, but the longer lines will get replaced with some double braid polyester I’ve got laying around. But I was expecting to toss it anyway, so it fine.
The fly itself is pretty great. I set it up for a few days to see if any loops ripped out, and it’s withstood the test. I would like if all intermediate tie down loops had the cool steel gromets, but I can live with the two short fabric loops. I’m not sure what the plastic hook is for in the middle on the underside, but that would be better as a fabric loop as well. Or a reinforcing patch for a pole would be great.
The stakes are an added bonus. I figured they were getting scrapped, but the design is surprisingly strong yet light.
If this lasts two years with light use, I’ll be happy. I’ll buy a new one for this price.

I did a backpacking trip into the Boundary Waters last week and brought along this rain fly. We only had rain a couple of nights but having this made the difference between sitting in a tent by yourself or sitting with the rest of the group under this tarp/rain fly. The gromits/connection points were sturdy and held up well when being tied up. It came with stakes and tie down ropes, but we did not use these as we had this tied up between trees. I am glad I bought it, packed it and used it. I am sure I could have found a smaller, lighter tarp/rain fly, but for the price this was great.

Tarp is very light weight and takes up minimal space. Works great. I use it as a rainfly over my hammock while kayak camping. cant beat the price

We use it for the beach and an extra rain fly on the tent when hunting. Will built it has held up in heavy wi do’s on the coast.

It covers a lot of space, although it was difficult at first to pitch since it was windy at the time. The pegs included are okay however not strong enough/good with sands.

I wish it had a couple more tie-outs around the edges (just tie-outs everywhere!), but you can do quite a few tarp shelter configurations with it, so not bad. The stake and guy line kit it comes with got the job done (I really like the stakes and the lines are bright orange and reflective, so awesome visibility). It comes with two lines that are about 12(?) feet long with a toggle at each end, and four that are 6(?) feet long and a toggle at one end. I did a simple a-frame overnight with some light rain and I stayed dry and the inside surface of the tarp was dry to the touch. All packed up, it’s about the size of a loaf of bread, and I’m realizing that 10ft x 10ft is plenty of real estate for 1-2 people to have a good amount of space, and at half the pack size of my tent. Even if you just wanted this as a tarp to supplement having a tent (which I will still use it for sometimes), the decreased size and high quality tie-outs are a huge improvement over your hardware store tarp, and $30 is a really great price.

Es súper ligera y muy resistente a las lluvias y el sol intenso, ademas puede ocuparse como refugio en una emergencia. Viene con estacas de aluminio y la cuerda es reflejante durante la noche, vale la pena cada peso invertido.
