   I got a new tent this year to go camping on Mt. Hood. I went alone because none of my family wanted to go or could get off work. I struggled with getting a 2, 3, or 4-person tent. This one was just perfect. This 3-person tent just fit the queen size air mattress with about a foot to spare at the entrance. In retrospect, I would have liked a little more room with just the tent floor. Since my queen mattress sprung a leak, I got a twin size for my next trip since I may go alone again. With the queen air mattress in it, it would have fit two adults comfortably. Maybe two adults and a small child. For comparison, when my daughter was about 3, we had a 4-person Coleman tent and it fit us quite comfortably for camping up on Mt. Shasta. This tent would be a little tighter. I like to be comfortable so I don’t recommend more than two people in it. It was very easy to set up. It as two main poles and two short roof poles. The roof poles are a little unusual but once your realize how they clips in, they’re great. Really keep the doorways up. I recommend setting up first in your back yard in good weather so you can familiarize yourself with the setup and takedown. I got the footprint with it and it was really handy. I like the way the tent poles fit through the eyelets in the corner of the tent and the footprint at the same time and keep them together. The rain fly clips in the same way to the main poles. I set the whole thing up without staking it, and then I was able to shift it on the ground to find an optimal position. I highly recommend the footprint. I camped in a forest below Mt. Hood in rainy conditions, and it kept the tent floor dry and clean when I packed up to go. It’s a lot easier to clean off the footprint than the tent itself. https://www.whatcampingtent.com.com/gp/product/B09KYKNGTY The rain fly worked great — kept me dry in the rain and shields the whole tent wall. Though the fly is not vented, I did not feel stuffy, although I opened the fly doors at both ends when it wasn’t raining to air it out. I also liked the way the rain fly made a vestibule at the door. I brought a small accessory tarp and folded it to fit beneath the fly outline at the vestibule (so it wouldn’t channel any water into the entrance). This worked out great to have a staging area where I could take my shoes off before getting in the tent. Kept everything a lot cleaner. You can see it in the photos. I set it up in wet conditions between rain showers and it went up quickly (after having practiced once at home) and stayed sturdy and dry the whole time. There’s a little loop in the ceiling to hang a light. The only minor drawback I found was that there didn’t seem to be a handy way to roll or otherwise secure the rain fly door flap over when you open one side. I managed, but it was a little insecure. I think if you unzip both sides it’ll roll up and secure at the top with a little strap, but I didn’t want to bother with both sides. The rain fly zipper stuck a couple of times but I was able to free it up.

   We used this tent for 3 months while motorcycle backpacking across New Zealand. It bundles up surprisingly small compared to most other tents of this size.

   The only problem we really encountered over the 3 months was when it rained, if the outer layer was not staked tightly enough so it didn’t touch the inner screen layer, the moisture would come through. We never got rained on, but there were mornings where we’d wake up to a very wet edge of the sleeping bag due to this. Unfortunately I don’t think there is a way to stake the outer layer tight enough so the layers don’t come in contact, especially with the weight of the rain.

   Overall very durable for the $200 price tag! Simple to set up. I would recommend still

   Not sure how they calculate the weight, but it’s almost twice as heavy as stated.

   Otherwise I’m decently happy with it. Good size and relatively easy setup. Only other issues are the pegs bend too easily, and the mesh doesn’t let as much air in as I’d like. Really this is probably best used as a fall/spring tent.

    Stayed dry during a long downpour. Wish my cot would have fit though. The sloping walls make it too short for my 96′ cot. That was disappointing. Would have returned it, but I missed the window.

    I bought this tent to camp abs back pack in Kauai. The wind picked up and I had several stormy nights. I am so glad I invested in this quality tent. The rain fly held up wonderfully. Many campers around me packed up their tents in the middle of the night. I was able to stay dry and content in my tent all night long. Good purchase! Worth the extra money for the North Face quality.
