I bought one of these a few years ago, and I actually still have it. My buddy and I were planning a two-week trip out to South Dakota and Wyoming and Montana in the early weeks of May, 2022. He didn't have a tent, and I wasn't willing to take my tent (because I was worrying about snapping the tent poles and didn't obtain a solution for the first night if that actually happened), so I suggested we both buy some and have them sent to a local Distribution Center in Rapid City, SD, for pickup. I had success with my first tent, and it's still serving well, and it's affordable and why not? First off, I don't do too much camping, so I'm still a little bit of a novice, but my buddy is totally green. Nonetheless, he had absolutely no problem figuring out how to set the thing up in about 10 or 15 minutes without even needing the instructions. While everything you need is within storage bag, I opted to go to Harbor Freight to buy more robust tent stakes, which proved to be extremely helpful with some of the weather that we had. The storage bag is 100% sufficient with storing the tent, as long as you fold it up a little bit as opposed to just stuffing it in there like whatever. The bag is sturdy enough to carry everything. We also bought some waterproof tarps that were a little bit thick from Harbor freight, as we wanted to keep the tents as dry as possible. Completely satisfied with the amount of airflow, and while it did get down to the low 30s on some nights, having a good sleeping bag (and air pad) takes care of that and having the option to open and close the air vents that will definitely help maintain a decent temperature within the tent. I had no problems at all with the waterproofing of the tent. We had three days where we experienced some rain. The first day, it rained for maybe 30 minutes at night, but the tents were dry in the morning after the sun came out for a little bit and everything dried rather quickly. The last day we also had a bit of rain, so we had to set the tents up before we pack them up for the final time just to let them dry off, but they dried super, super quick. There was one day where there was a torrential downpour that lasted about 2 hours and was absolutely frightening. The wind was ripping super hard, hail was coming down, and I could hear the tent getting pelted like mad by rain. Overall, I was extremely frightened by the lightning, and wondering what I was going to do if the tent came down because it was shaking pretty hard. Well, other than the outside of the tent being wet and being dealt with in the morning, absolutely nothing came inside or happened in any way to damage the tent. My buddy even didn't know that he was supposed to attach the tent to the tent poles with some clips, yet his tent held up. I definitely gained a bit more confidence in the tent after that downpour, I would never even want to be in the car with what was happening. The second photo is the morning after the downpoor. I love the storage pockets, and the hook inside to hang my light, as well as the small inlet for a power cord. I was about as comfortable as I could possibly be. Set up and breakdown is super, super easy. It takes maybe 15 minutes at most with one person, and about 5 minutes with two people. The two-person tent fits one person comfortably with a backpack or something inside. It's quite small, and if you were to use two people in a two-person tent, it would just be you and one other person sleeping next to each other with absolutely no room for anything at all inside. Now, I have two of these tents after I brought the second one home, but I am not complaining at all. I did look at a few other tents before buying this second one and having it shipped, but I know that I was not going to do as well as I would have with this tent. Definitely worth a second purchase, in my opinion!
I really like this portable shade “device” by Big Tuna. First impressions: Instructions on-line, watch a video to see how to set up Durable, heavy duty parts Strong and attractive canopy Suitable for most soil types or beach sand One person can set this up in 15-20 minutes No guy lines! Comes with backpack with additional storage, very nice! Free hat and can cozy! Bottom line: This is a quality product that is oh-so versatile and attractive. You will be the envy of the beach or lake. We tried different pole heights to get just the right amount of shade coverage, combined with privacy. You can raise or lower the sides as needed. So when the sun moves or the wind changes direction, you can lower or raise the sides to compensate. So cool! The 15 x 15 size we ordered seems just about right for our needs and we were able to put six beach chairs under it, no problem. Lots of room left over. The shade provided is much more than the 15 x 15 description. I’m glad I found this and am really happy with it. It will see a lot of use and seems durable and well made and should last for years. I think it is a good value for what you get. You get a lot for your money. Highly recommended and would buy it again. I would recommend this to family and friends. 5 STARS!
I did like that there was enough space for 2 people to sit comfortably. I didn’t like that I did struggle closing it back up, accidentally tore off one of the buckles trying to fold it down.
We used this for a tent floor when beach camping in our canopy tent. It worked out, great. Large enough to cover the ground surface for a larger tent, small and lightweight when packed up. Sand just slid right off it when I went to shake it out before packing. I used small tent stakes to tack it down on the edges.
I got this product a couple days ago (March 26th), and finally was able to set it up. So far, I have to say I'm very impressed with this tent! I'll be the first to review it, as such I'll be as in depth as I can be. I'll start it off by saying this comes with some nice stuff! You get aluminum tent spikes and good guy lines, and enough of the spikes to use on the entire tent with two left over. I'll start with set up. This tent is easily set up by one person. I followed the instructions on how to set it up by beginning with one corner, and worked my way around. I did so before setting up the interior pole, but that is where I ran into my first problem - this made the pole impossible to set up. So, to rectify this, I took the spikes out of one side, set up the pole, and then re-staked the outside. It also comes with a heat retardant stove pipe cover (for the stove itself), which was a pleasant surprise! Just need to cut the hole out for the stove pipe, and it'll be good to go! When this was done, I set up the interior tent (note: put the tent onto the pole BEFORE putting the foam ball on the pole), and staked it down too. No issues, though I needed to adjust the stakes a couple times due to my own error. The guy lines are easy to do, so no reason to elaborate much on that. The door(s) of the tent are easy to zip up and down, so I have no issues with them. The interior has heat reflective lining, so it is VERY warm inside. This may be a bad idea as a summer tent (with the exterior on), but that may be good with both entrances opened. As is pictured, the interior has a lantern hook (outside of the interior tent), and the interior tent had a pocket for small items. It's roomy enough to put your bed in it, although I'm not sure if it'll handle my backpacking cot, for now I have my air filled sleeping mat inside and will be sleeping on it tonight. It seems to have good air flow, and tonight there will be a lot of rain, so I'll be updating this tomorrow. Currently it seems pretty good with the wind, so I'm confident in the tent so far! My only issues with this tent are the pole itself and the interior tent. The pole is 4 sections of aluminum that are held together with a thick piece of metal (will add picture later, when I take it down), and it feels a little flimsy. My issue with the interior tent itself is that, when laying down, the fabric of the side walls kind of lay on my head. I'm 5'9, and I am nearly end to end in the interior tent. I think at most the interior tent can handle someone up to 6'2, so tall people be warned! I slept in this last night as a fairly heavy rainstorm moved in. The interior tent stayed dry the entire night, but the interior of the rainfall did not. I'm not sure if that is due to condensation or the rain, but I'll be putting a coating of rain repellent on it some time later. Overall, I am impressed with this tent! I will leave itup for a whole to see how it survives an extended period of 'use', but so far this tent seems very sturdy! This seems like it will make a nice addition for winter camping. Now I just need a camp stove! *edit* So, since my previous post, I had been unable to take down this tent due to intense sciatica pain in my hip. Today, after nearly 90 days up, I took this tent down. Colors had faded slightly, of course, but this weathered intense rain storms, high wind, heat, and everything that the Pacific Northwest had been throwing at it since March 26th of 2024. The guylines held, the pole never buckled, the interior tent never developed a hole, nothing bad happened. I don't think I've ever found a more quality product in this price range - especially a tent! This thing is WELL worth the money! I still have yet to get a stove and try that (will be during the winter), but so far, this is the best tent I've ever owned. 5/5 stars EASILY.
We live in FL, so anything that can keep the mosquitoes off us is a must. Item was exactly as described (95lb dog inside for scale 😂) and popped right up as soon as we undid the clips. Came with carrying/storage case, stakes, privacy shades, and sandbags. Excited to use this to sit outside, bug-free!
My tent just arrived----very quick delivery----arrived sooner than predicted. I got this tent so that I could sit outside on my patio and read....without getting eaten alive by mosquitoes. My tent arrived yesterday, and rain is predicted for the next week....so I didn't want to set it up outside on my patio yet.....but I did want to see if I could actually put it together.....so I did a trial run and put it up in my basement. The tent seems very well made and has nice features such as a floor and 2 doors and toggles to hold the flaps of the windows up and the doors of the tent open if desired. The two poles that come with the tent are very long once they are put together (they connect very quickly), so to me, they are a bit cumbersome to work with, simply due to their length. They need to be long however as they arc up one side of the tent and then down the other. Once you put the two tent poles through the top loop of the tent, and then connect the fasteners from the tent to the poles (and secure the tent to the poles with the bottom metal round "hook" type piece which goes into the bottom of the poles to keep the tent from sliding up the poles) you're set. I placed gallon water jugs in the corners of the tent just to secure it a bit. When I set it up, it took me probably 15 min, but that was because it took me that long to realize I needed to secure the tent to the poles with the "hook" type piece at the end of each pole. Once I figured that out....I was good to go. Next time I should be able to get the tent up in probably 5 min. The tent is light weight and primarily mesh/screen, so it is not a heavy canvass tent material; it is more delicate, therefore, and careful handling is necessary to calmly work with the tent....you don't want to strong arm it like you might a heavy canvass tent. So far, I've only had it in my basement, but based on the trial set up and easy take down (easy to fold back up) I think it's going to work just fine on my patio and will hopefully give me years of mosquito free enjoyment. I can stand up comfortably inside the tent (I'm 5'4"). Once inside the tent, you can see through the screen perfectly as though the screen were a clear/glass window (even though the screen looks dark in the photos), My plan is to put an outdoor rug in the tent, my outdoor lounge chair and a small outdoor table. I plan to take the tent down when strong winds or heavy rain are forecast (which should not be a problem as dis-assembly is quick and easy, as is folding the tent for storage), and then bring it back out and set back up in nice weather.
Great tent for camping, I order this tent for the sheer purpose of being able to stand up inside of it. My husband is 6’2” in height and wanted to feel comfortable while inside the tent while either sleeping or standing. Setting up process was simple, but the middle section pole will lift that section up where it will not let it lay flat on the ground however it does give the tent more top center reinforcement. The top of the tent has a very large area for night time viewing when the rain top is not being used, or can be used as extra ventilation. There’s ample amount of storage with two mesh pockets on each end of the tent and also a mesh pocket that attaches to the very top as a loft for smaller items. The convent hook in the middle comes in very handy for a hands free hanging light, plus the large windows let in a lot of natural light and air for ventilation. This tent is also big enough to bring along as an extra tent to be used with a table in it for eating with 4 chairs. Overall the tent has enough space for a queen size mattress and chairs all while storing other items like clothing and bedding.
My son wants a camping themed birthday party so instead of setting up our larger family tent I went looking for a small tent the kids can play in for a few hours and this will be perfect for what I need. It took about 5 minutes for both set up and break down and was easy to fold back up and put in the bag. It did not come with directions but if you’ve ever put a tent together it’s pretty basic, just put the poles through the holes and stand it up. I wouldn’t say this is big enough for 2 people to comfortably camp, maybe 1 person and their gear. Me and my toddler fit fine but definitely not 2 adults. I do wish there was a window but honestly I can’t complain because it’s a great deal for $20.
This thing is HUGE!!! I knew it was bigger when I ordered it and will primarily be using it as an outhouse. We wanted something that could be stood inside for changing reasons if needed (parents helping young children if there's an accident for example, and some of the dad's are tall!!!), but I didn't expect THIS! 6'2+" tall person will have NO issues getting in or out. Assembles like a tent, zippers were all off track but as soon as we zipped them up they went right into place almost like they did that on purpose for some reason, and while the zippers do seem "fragile" when using them, we took it easy opening and closing and they work just fine. Time will tell! Comes with a bag, bag for poles. Wouldn't trust hanging anything inside if you plan to use it for showering, there is 0 support for even probably a gal of water...we already plan to put it next to a tree and put a shower bag on a branch if we choose to use it to shower. Floor is attached, mesh along the outside of floor to allow air flow/water run off, and main floor area is similar to the tent material, and there is plenty of space to sit inside on a portable toilet. 3 people could fit inside to change, definitely a parent and 2 kids. Pockets on the outside by "escape window" (screen cover and screen itself unzip to be fully open) and a row of pockets inside as well. Hooks on top of ceiling to hang a light of sorts, or run hose up to to hang downwards for showering. Look forward to not having to worry about being eaten alive by bugs when we have to answer to the call of nature in the middle of the night!!!
This is just based on first impressions as have not actually used overnight or on the trail yet and just an initial setup. I will update this once it's gotten some usage. I provide workshops to beginner and novice backpackers who are just getting started or interested in backpacking and one of the biggest questions is how much does this cost? Obviously most people are not going to go out and spend oodles of money on something they don't know they are going to like, so I started putting together several modest budget kits to see what could be done for under $500 and selected this tent as an option. Experienced hikers/backpackers - This is NOT ultralight. I have several 2lb 2-person tents (SMD Haven, Big Agnes TigerWall 2) and I chose this one based on whatcampingtent.com reviews, the listed weight and size, and that it is free-standing which is easier for beginners. For those starting out and fully 2 person tent, it's 5.1 lbs according to my scale (Seller lists as 5.5lb) and this could be stripped down a bit more by swapping out lighter bags (or no bags) for stakes and pole, reducing # of stakes and/or replacing the stakes. I'll have to do more weighing but here is what my scale came up with: Alum Stakes + 4 guy lines in sack: 7 oz. Alum Pole in sack: 14 oz. Fly: 28 oz. Body: 32 oz Total (minus stuff sack): 81oz - 5.09 lb Setup was super easy, I specifically picked this tent because the inner tent clips on to the poles and had a single pole (double-Y) design. The elastic on the pole was just right so that a couple shakes and the pole almost self-assembled. The Y connectors are solid alum disks like on most high-end tents of similar designs and at 14 oz. respectable given the size and space provided by having a cross pole in the center opening the living space. The pole sections are short (10-12 inches) making them fit easier in a pack and the joints have a 1.5-2" connectors for strength and stability. The material is obviously heavier than ultralight tents but they have done a good job of mixing material weights where most needed with heavier (Floor and fly) and lighter (Walls and mesh). There was some less refined edges (fraying material that wasn't trapped in seams or heated) and while the fly is fully seam taped, only the bathtub floor is with side wall seams not (see pictures). The fly comes all the way to the ground, but it wouldn't take much to seal all the seams and for the price, you could easily do this yourself. Only field testing and time will tell how well the seam tape holds up but all tent users/backpackers learn that at some point you have to redo this yourself anyway. The stakes while aluminum are not the typical thin shepherd hook ones found in similar priced tents (and pictured in the product listing). They have gone with slightly thicker ones with an octagon profile so they are light but still felt incredibly strong and they give you 12 of them! You could easily reduce this to 6 (2 for vestibule/doors and 4 for corners) The Double-Y pole gives lots of head room though that could make it a sail in the wind. To combat this they have included 4 guy out points on the fly allowing you to better secure everything. This is one way you can reduce weight. Since it's free standing with the pole inserting into grommets at each corner and the fly clipping to those same corners, when using the fly you don't need to stake the corners of the inner tent and can instead stake down the fly, reducing the # of stakes. This tent floor area is also completely rectangular making it easily 2P or 1P with ALL your gear inside. The zippers on the doors (one on each side) worked smoothly and are built with no way for fabric to snag (even the fly doors) The inner tent doors have double (open either direction) zippers which is nice as you can unzip from the bottom enough to reach out to the vestibule. There are equal sized vestibules on each side which aren't big but enough you could put your shoes, cook pot, etc. under and if using as a 1P you have a back porch! Each end of the fly also has vents that can be opened from the outside to reduce condensation. It would have been nice for the fly doors to have double zippers to allow venting at the top of them as well. I don't see anywhere that they sell a footprint but I have made ones for all my tents out of tyvek with reinforced grommets for the poles and you could easily adapt the fly connectors where you could use the fly without the inner tent and just a footprint and poles. They have included stash pockets in EVERY corner and an overhead gear loft that is detachable. They also include a hook in the center to hang a lantern, etc. but this is the third fault I found as the gear loft when installed prevents use of this hook (see photos). It would be better if they moved the hook to one of the ends so it would be usable along with the gear loft, but the loft installs/removes easily with toggles. Pros: - EASY Setup - Pole snapped together quick (almost on it's own with a couple shakes) - Pole and fly connect easily with clips and grommets - Fly covers all the way to the ground - Great interior space (I'm 5'11" and had easily a foot to spare in length and could almost stretch my arms to the sides) - STASH pockets everywhere - Good stakes Cons: - No Seam sealing on all seams: just those exposed to ground or on fly - Workmanship: some fraying, loose threads and scraps found stuck to it - can tell it was built on a factory line - Weight? Not bad - decent for a starter: 5lbs or $17/lb (in comparison my Tigerwall 2 is $200/lb) Initial thoughts are that this indeed would be a great starter tent for someone getting into backpacking. I've included this tent as part of a sub $500 starter kit I'm compiling (https://www.lighterpack.com/r/m60i3h) and so far this is going to be my go to recommendation for tent as the weight to price to size to feature ratios are excellent. $85, 5.1lb, 32.6 Sq Ft, 2P free standing
Great screen house! Purchased for camping to have a mosquito-free place to cook, eat & hang out. Worked great, fit 8 ft. picnic table (photo) with ~2-3 ft on each side and ~1ft on each end to move around. Set up and take down were super easy and fast (love the design). It fit back into carry bag easily (huge plus for transport and storage). CONS: -small gnats got through the mesh -the lip at the bottom wouldn’t stay put (ended up weighting with rocks & firewood) -storage pockets only above 1 door (wish pockets were above both doors)
So glad we got this for our vacation. Folds up super slim, fit easily in our luggage. We used this every day - great foe naps and keeping baby in the shade.
This tent was a lifesaver at the beach with my baby! It folds up to the size of a sunshade for your car, and comes in a little bag with a pocket that holds the stakes if you need to secure the tent a little extra. It pops up with one hand in seconds, and was easy enough for me to fold by myself. It keeps the sun off baby, and doesn’t get too warm because of the ventilated mesh panels on each side. There are little ties to hold back the mesh flaps, and it zippers completely shut if you’re worried about bugs. We plan to use this for all sorts of outdoor activities in the future like tailgates, soccer games, picnics, etc. Amazing quality for the price!
