I have a total of six tarp poles in my car camping kit. I ordered these specific ones twice now, so it's probably time for me to create a review. These days, I'm an avid car and airplane camper. I'll travel practically anywhere, through any mode of transportation, for the opportunity to get a little bit of camping in. I like to camp in the lap of luxury while still "roughing it" as I'm one of those staunch tent campers. I'll go out against practically any weather condition. Rain is certainly on of the more formidable issues when this is your thing. Of course, I'm well versed in tarps and general camp protections. I bought a pair of these ages ago. They were used well, worked fine and generally did exactly what I needed them to do. I survived many an inconvenient weather systems with them. I didn't really appreciate what I had, though. I planned a camping trip where I expected 7 inches of rain during my brief stay. My plan involved a place that I wasn't familiar with, I didn't know what - if any - trees I would have at my disposal to tie off to. It urgently came to my attention that the two poles in my kit wasn't going to satisfy my preparation requirements. So, I moseyed on down to my trusty REI where I walked away with ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS worth of TWO tarp poles. I immediately placed an order for a second pair of these. If four tarp poles was barely good enough, six pairs at half that price was essential for my kit. So, let's compare them. I'll admit, my REI poles that I paid ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS for are certainly more robust than these. Those REI poles are larger in diameter and in most ways, might be considered more capable. But they're not made from titanium or silver bullion! They are essentially quite similar in make and operation, it's really only a matter of size and maybe some degrees of stability. I'm not unfamiliar with rigging and setting poles. I can do fully freestanding, lean-to's, A-frames or various other combinations of tarp rigging. In most cases, I prefer to integrate anything I can use in my environment over setting another pole. Your rigging is what matters, it's what creates structure and rigity. I'd pull out any of the tarp poles in my kit, including these, and be totally fine through practically any condition I'd camp through. I'll admit, I'm not trying to survive through hurricanes. But, I do camp a fair bit in Alaska. It's hard for me to imagine Florida as a more formidable place. I've now broken these poles out through my fair share of crummy situations and have always managed to have a good time. They aren't invincible, but if anything, that's my reason for having six poles. There are lots of Chinese make tarp poles out there, they're all pretty similar. These are the ones in my kit and I bought them twice. They aren't the most amazing tarp poles, but I haven't managed to break them despite pitting them against the elements. I think if you're confident in your rigging these are good. And if you're still learning tarp rigging techniques, there's a lot less riding on these poles compared to some.
Easiest tent EVER!! I love this tent!! I got it for me and my pup to be out of the sun because he is a black German Shepherd/Chow Chow mix and likes to dig underneath trees and in dirt to stay cool. It's perfect in so many ways. It's lightweight. It takes 1 person and all of 10 seconds or less to pop-up or down. It has a nice tarp floor so sand or dirt can easily be swept off. This also means it is very thin and uncomfortable to lay on, so bring a thick towel or mat. My dog preferred the tarp, though. The size is larger than I thought but not obscene. You don't feel like you're "claiming land" for a "family reunion". I can almost stand up, but not quite. It's about 60 inches tall and wide. A perfect square. The blue color is perfect for the sun to keep you cool inside. I hung a fan from the hook 🪝 at the top to keep flys or mosquitoes out as well as keep air circulated. You can also zip up the tarp part if you need to change or something. Flaws: I wish it had more mesh areas for ventilation, but I do like that the screens they do have are at the bottom so the sun doesn't shine in on you. It's 💯 a parachute if the wind picks up!! You need all the pieces to keep it down. You need all the stakes in a ground that will hold them in, sand bags, and something on the inside to hold the floor down. ( i.e. a cooler, dog, person) I would just pop it down when my dog and I went out for a paddle, but you can easily just turn it out of the wind.
Love the quality for the price. Just as good as other high end tipi shelters. Worth it!!!
I bought this for a temporary outdoor shower while I'm renovating my main bathroom. I have a 1950's home that only has 1.5 bathrooms. So I'm removing the floor tile and replacing some of the water damage subfloor. Also notice that there is water damage under the bathtub. It took a little rigging to make this work. Only design flaw is that is now opening for the garden hose. Just a little velcro slit near the top would be perfect to inset the hose instead of running in the front zip up door. I reused our current shower head and Home Depot carried the quick release faucet fitting to garden hose. 25ft hot garden hose and the garden hose fitting to 1/2 thread to the shower head. I wish the hook for the shower head was better design. May be a clamp type accy or something. But this is better that running to gym to shower.
This is a very nice light weight tarp. I got it last year for a camping trip that got cancelled. I was surprised when I opened it today at how large it is. If set up like a pup tent, it would be easily large enough for two and possibly three people. The green color is excellent for blending in with a wooded area. It comes with tie down ropes and stakes and only needs two poles to make a quick overnight shelter. It also has its own storage bag which has two carry straps for easy carry and is small enough to be carried inside or strapped to a backpack. It has strong seams and reinforced grommets. I am very impressed with this tarp and am looking forward to using it soon. Highly recommended.
I just got back from the beach, and my bestie had one of these in a different brand. It was great, so I went on the search for my own. I researched many cheaper brands for 4 days straight. I don't watch TV. whatcampingtent.com is my addiction, so 4 days of whatcampingtent.com for me, equates to about 30+ hrs total. Anyways, I was specifically wanting a beach shade that could also be used in the grass with easy corkscrew anchors, as lightweight as possible but with 4 very sturdy poles with foam balls to protect the fabric from tears, as well as bungees to hold the balls securely to the fabric. I needed it to come with a zippered carry bag since I hate trying to stuff thick fabric things back into one ended drawstring bags. I also only need a shade big enough for 2-4 people. I am too lazy to pack the extra weight for extra fabric I didn't need. I was also trying to keep my price point around $60. And least importantly, but still a plus if I found it - one that has a pretty color. This one ticked every one of those boxes, but not all the reviews were great. I got it anyways. I am so very glad I did! It is perfect!!! I set it up myself in the backyard in less than 4 minutes! Easy peasy! If I didn't have to screw in the anchors and just used it with filling sand or rocks, I could have had it up in 2 mins by myself. The poles and the fabric seem sturdy. Today is a pretty breezy day, and this is holding up better than the beach umbrella I bought to attach to my camp chair (which I will be returning this week.) All in all, this was an amazing purchase!!
Bought for camping, support our "awning". We literally waited for mail lady in the driveway to take them with us. SO glad we chose these poles. Awesome, durable , sturdy product. Had a unexpected rain shower that afternoon & alot of leaves fell. The poles never slipt "being telescopic", nor swayed. Plus they come with a nice lil storage bag. Thank you.
Yay for this shade!! I bought this one since the trendy brands came with fewer poles and I wanted a bigger shade size as well. I’ve set it up 3-4 times (on my own) this weekend and it’s been great. My kids love filling the sand anchors and emptying them for break down. I was able set up on a low tide sand bar and QUICKLY break down and leave when our oasis was disappearing. Easy set up on my own, great shade coverage, easy carrying bag and definitely a staple for summer. I thought the wrapping bungee cords were silly but they really help and do a great job.
The functionality of this canopy is dependent on the wind since it only has two poles. It’s fairly easy to set up by filling the sand bags first with the hand shovels that are already included and then securing the canopy to the poles with the adjustable elastic straps that are included and positioning them where you need them. It’s great for the beach, especially if it’s a super windy day. It provides excellent coverage, and it won’t blow away like a standard canopy. The sand bags hold A LOT of sand, and there are stakes included as well. I recommend using wet sand if it’s an extra windy day. Those hand shovels are not flimsy little sand castle shovels though, so digging up the wet sand is easy. It provides excellent coverage. However, if it’s TOO windy, the front of the canopy will blow down and flap everywhere and block your view . The beach pics I uploaded were taken on an extremely windy day and was our first time to use it. I had to pull the front of the canopy and scrunch it together with a hair tie to keep it from flapping down in our faces. The last picture I uploaded was at the lake on a day with no wind at all. Since there are only two poles to hold up the front corners, it becomes more of a lean-to because there’s nothing to “lift” the canopy without the wind, and there’s not as much space or coverage.
I bought the grande for shade on the beach. The Neso is so easy to carry and put up that I wonder why I never bought one sooner. This made a 91 degree Florida day, into paradise. It was so much cooler under the canopy and we ended staying longer than expected. I highly recommend this item for ease of use, carrying size and great protection from the sun. I usually am out on the beach by myself or with just one other person and the Grande is perfect size to comfortably have shade for two people and all their belongings. I do recommend purchasing a little hand shovel to make it easier to put sand in the sandbags. Also, bury the sandbags. I had no issues with sandbags slipping in 16mph winds.
Bought to hang behind the rear doors of a sprinter van as a makeshift private shower. Works pretty well with some ingenuity. Build quality is good and has some useful features.
This emergency sleeping bag, thermal bivvy sack is much more than inexpensive standard emergency blankets. The material of this emergency bivvy is more like Tyvek wristbands which are made of nylon or polyethylene. This is both lightweight and funcitonal. The material difficult to puncture stretch or tear/shred.There is much more manufacturing to make this emergency bivvy. There is an addtional honeycombed layer of reflective coating of shiny polyethylene or mylar bonded to the nylon. The bag is shaped as a tapered full length & width sleeping bag that has a drawstring cord to cinch around the top to protect the head. There is a partial 1/3 length of zipper to easily get in and out. But the only bad thing is the zipper pull is on the outside versus on the inside too. I have to stick my arm back out to zip up and unzip, which is much more of a pain to do when trying to stay warm and dry. A double pull zipper would be far more functional. There is also a separate carry bag made of the same material. What's not mentioned at all in the product information is the at the tip of the carrying bag, there is an emergency whistle attached to the drawstring cord. This is helpful to get attention in an emergency. I got the orange color model and it's bright and visible from far away distances. Flipping the bivvy inside out also reflects light and can be used to reflect the sun as a signaling device too. This emergency bivvy can be used in conjunction with a sleeping bag if temperatures fall below the rating of my sleeping bag. Or this can be used on its own when hiking or other inhospitable conditions and immediate shelter is needed. This emergency bivvy fully encloses me completely to keep my body temperature in and keep me dry. It's much more difficult to stay fully covered from a rectangular sheet of an emergency blanket.
Love the quality of this tent considering the price! Good zippers, seams, and parts overall. The bag is a perfect size for repacking – not too small like other tents Unfortunately the Y shaped poles came assembled incorrectly and required some effort to fix. It was tricky untying and reassembling with the bungee inside the poles, but came together in the end. Happy with the purchase but maybe it could have used a double check in the factory 🤷♂️
This is the mesh inner tent component that pairs with the Onewind cover. The cover itself is very well-designed, and forms the rainfly for this mesh shelter. This shelter weighs a bit more than the cover at 1lb, 1.7 ozs. (and it doesn't include any stakes, cords, or a pole - the cover includes the stakes and cords, any stick or trekking pole can serve as a pole). Like the cover, this is very well-designed. If the weather is pleasant, you can enjoy the night air with this mesh shelter alone. In addition to ultralight overnight backpacking adventures, this would also go really well in a well-stocked go-bag.
First of all, no instructions. It’s a tent. Assemble like one. The 2 longer fiberglass poles go in the roof from one corner to the opposite corner through the middle. The shorter fiberglass pole in front to back over the door openings. Anchor like a tent. The magnets were solid and kept the openings closed unless the wind hit them straight on. Even survived a nasty thunderstorm with 45mph gusts. Second of all, we put it up in 8 minutes first time. Flat ground. 12 metal anchors. It’s not water proof. We already knew that, it’s a screen tent, not a shelter. It keeps the bugs out. Fits over a standard picnic table. I might upgrade the stars to 5 if it lasts a year.
