After giving this item a lot of thought (to be mounted on my 2008, 4-door Jeep Wrangler) I went ahead and bought it. After a month, today I finally installed it. I have a roof rack made out of tubular (round) metal. I think you should know that the mounting hardware is really for a square-metal constructed roof rack. I kind of thought so when I first looked at it but figured I would make it work, which is exactly the case. What this means is that I had to drill mounting holes in my rack. No big deal but did require a lot of extra time and work... but something that most guys love, anyhow. You know, making things work. I also think that the "shower-tent" should be removed when not in use and stored out of the sun to avoid the zippered case from rotting. This will not be hard. The hard part was drilling the new holes in my rack. Also, instructions are not that great, but did help. The entire thing is made in China so what can we expect. I didn't mount the two brackets exactly the same, regarding equal hole placement but not a big deal. After I use it I will post an update.
La entrega fue súper demorada, el producto no estaba mal pero si su funda donde venía estaba dañada, los trato de contactar y es imposible que me respondan los de la marca de la sombrilla, ya que soporte de whatcampingtent.com no pudo hacer nada al respecto!
EXCELLENT AND EASY TO USE!! It's big, the shadow is incredible! Im obsessed
This was easy so easy to set up and worked really well, especially with lots of wind! I highly recommend it!
The "stakes" it came with are thin wires not suitable for staking a tent. I didn't even take them to the camp site and used proper stakes instead. The tie downs on the corners are poorly sewn. Two ripped when the wind started to blow. It did keep me warm in the low 40's weather; so I gave it 2 stars. This tent went in the trash after the first camping trip.
I was very surprised by this product. When it arrived I thought no way is this going to compare to our homemade windbreak. It's just too small. The first time we tried to put it up 15 minutes in my husband gave up. I thought I was going to have to send it back. 2nd attempt me and a friend put it up with very little trouble even though it was windy. So yes it's about half the size of our homemade one however the compact light weight makes it worth it.
I recently took this 3-4 person camping tent on a weekend trip, and it exceeded my expectations! Easy Setup – I had it fully assembled in about 5-10 minutes, even without prior experience. The instructions were clear, and the poles snapped into place smoothly. Waterproof & Sturdy – We encountered some unexpected rain, but the rainfly kept us completely dry. No leaks, no damp sleeping bags! The material also held up well against the wind. Spacious & Comfortable – It fit three adults comfortably, and four would be a tight but doable fit. The ventilation was great, preventing that stuffy tent feeling. Lightweight & Portable – Perfect for backpacking or festivals. It packs up neatly into a compact bag, making it easy to carry.
It's really well-made. It's easy to put up and take down. It's huge and has so many doors! It's just a really great item for the price. Highly recommended!
Tried this for the first time today and it was HARD to assemble with the wind. We live in Florida and today’s forecast was 17 mph wind. Thankfully there was 3 of us to work together and we were able to put it up together. Other than that, such a great buy. It stayed in place, it covered all 3 of us and there was still enough room for a 4th person if needed. I will say that the metal hook rods didn’t really help. The only way we were able to keep everything down was using the huge rocks at the beach (2nd picture shows this).
After a few practice setups and more importantly, take downs, I tested this tent (2P) camping this past weekend. IT does indeed go up very quickly and one could argue that is goes down just about as fast. However, because I was camping with others that made me show them how easy it was a few times it may have lost its speed advantage over other tents. People find it amazing and want to see it. The test also included it in both some mild wind and some rain. It handled both very well and did not leak a drop! The issues others have pointed out about the door being inset when open and water getting in that way are indeed true, but minor. Many tents get wet around the door in the rain as folks enter and exit. You just wipe it up. I might rig a tiny fly extension for it to prevent this when using it in the future. All of my other tents that get used frequently are Sierra Designs, two of which are four season tents. Is this one as good as those? No, no it is not. In “real weather,” or backpacking I’d use the Sierra Designs tents. But they take far more effort and time to setup and take down. In good weather the Pop Up has them beat! I also use a Sierra Designs Baffin Bivy and though not a tent, it is used for speed, i.e set up and take down camp fast. It is still faster than the Coleman Popup, but not by a lot and the Pop Up is certainly more comfortable and less of an issue in rain. Others have pointed out issues taking the tent down and folding it up, even broken polls while doing this. I did not have any issue. I watched the YouTube videos and made a point of being gentle. I practiced a lot. I can fold it up in well under a minute. I have folded it up maybe 40 times without any poll issues or failures. To those having issues, practice, never force it and watch the you tube videos of the folks who know how to do it. It is really, really, easy. Others have pointed out the door zipper can be difficult to zip. This is also true and more so when the tent is staked out. It is not a one handed operation, but to be just, on all three of my Sierra Designs tents, it is a two handed operation also, and mostly where the door corves when they are put up tight. The Coleman was the same, though it is slightly harder to zip up. I’d ding it for that, but I got used to it pretty fast. It is another thing where being gentle with it will have rewards. Some have pointed out the cloth floor as an issue. Though, many tents have fabric flows this one seems thin and may be a vulnerable spot. I used a small tarp under It (I use fitted ground cloths with my other tents). I sized the tarp so most of the water running off the tent hit dirt and not the tarp (so the water does not go under the tent). I did not have any problems. Finally, it comes down to how many stars. I could easily say my Sierra Designs, tents are 5 stars and therefore this must be something far less. However, the Sierra Designs tents cost three to five times as much! The ease of setup earns this tent a great score. For the price this Coleman Popup is 100% worth it. Five stars.
These stakes are awesome. I have similar ones, but without the rubber bumpers and tie down points, but still screw in, and I like those a lot too. These take it a step further with the extras I just mentioned and it includes a storage pouch and magnetic nut driver. Whether I’m securing a tent or a holiday inflatable decoration in the yard, these stakes make life easier. I just get out my impact drill and drive them into the ground. Even if there’s a rock in the dirt, these stakes drilling action usually helps to displace the rock and it keeps going into the dirt. These are more secure and easier to install, in my opinion, and better quality. The price point is ok for these. Long lag screws tend to be a little pricey, but they work well
We upgraded to this tent because we wanted something we can stand up and change in instead of having to walk to the bathroom every time. This tent feels like luxury compared to a smaller 4 person tent! Tons of room inside and plenty of head space while standing (I’m 5’7). We did have some issues the first night because it was super windy and the tarp on top was super noisy but that was our own fault for not tying it off. After we did this the issue was done. Was able to fold it up and fit it back into the bag when dissembling which is a huge plus because it seems tent companies these days put it in a bag that is always too small! I really hope this tent holds up for many more trips!
I bought this toilet and tent for camping in Canyonlands National Park. I absolutely loved it, especially as a female. While we all know men can go anywhere and everywhere with ease, it can be trickier for a female. The tent was easy to assemble, as was the toilet as they both just pop up into place. It comes with ties which were handy because the ground was too hard for pounding steaks. So I used the ties around rocks which held it down. It also comes with thin trash bags and many powder packets that convert liquid to gel. This was very handy for liquid potty. At first I was a little concerned that the solid waste bags we bought elsewhere were not going to fit on the toilet the way they fit on a 5 gallon bucket toilet, but it does just barely fit and worked perfectly. I brought the directions for folding the tent back up with me and glad I did. Once you get the hang of it, it folded easily, but it did take me a few tries. Overall, this was an excellent purchase and I highly recommend it!
We loved how quickly it set up as well as light weight. Great quality tent. We used in 90 & 40 degree weather.
Easy to install and adjustable and Built very well, protection from the sun n rain
