The price is intimidating for a "tarp" but so is a lot of camping gear in general and you learn to buy once, cry once. I camp often enough that this is worth the investment and it's quality matches the price. A lot of tie out points and it does its job keeping me dry!! The only nitpick is the stuff sack that it comes with. I've always been great at getting tents and other tarps back into bags but this one is just too small for a 15' x 15' tarp. If you don't already have one, just buy a cheap 20 liter stuff sack/compression sack and life will be much easier putting this away!

Item was damaged right out of the packaging.

This tent is very warm, comfortable and a good purchase. This is a warning to anyone using it in wet or snowy conditions DO NOT FORGET TO DRY IT OUT when your done with it. I know it can be tempting to just pack it in the bag ,drive home and forget about it on the shelf ( speaking from experience). If your do this and don’t set up when you get home there is a chance it will grow mold that will be very hard to get out and it could be dangerous and unusable. I don’t blame the tent for this because this is true with most outdoor gear, but I just wanted to remind everyone that if you don’t dry it out, your probably wasting your money.

I use this as a ground cover/footprint for one of my tents. I’ve enclosed a photo in which you can see this tarp extended on the ground in the front vestibule. Very good quality material and definitely waterproof. The only seam across the span of the tarp was taped to insure the waterproofing integrity. A nice stuff sack was included which easily accommodates the tarp when folded. I am impressed with the build quality and performance of this tarp and highly recommend it!

Honestly love the tent, but the first time I used it and put the top support rods in it ripped the plastic that is sewn at the corners. I wish I hadn’t tried to use the rods, they really aren’t needed. Going to have to send back for a replacement because now there are rips on 2 of the corners on the top that will leak when it rains

I discovered a small area where the stitching does not meet the rain fly material. Overall quality seems nice but this has me nervous. I reached out to Hill Zero, hopefully I hear something back. Update: Hillzero made this right. Again this is a very good tent. 2 nights in a cold steady rain and no leaks. Setup is minimal and packs up to a small package. Looking forward to see what other products Hillzero releases.

Easy to setup. Durability is great, we set it up in Arizona. You will need to purchase better anchors to prevent the strong winds from damaging it. We love this clam.

The outer package says Grand Mesa 2 but the actual item inside the package is the Grand Mesa 4

Living in a landlocked area, we don't have the opportunity to frequently visit the beach (although we WILL be taking this to the ocean with us this Summer); however, this is the PERFECT track meet shelter for our little athletes. To have access to immediate privacy, an area where they can escape the sun, and a place to recover without the wind is invaluable between events. This tent/shelter is a lot bigger than I expected. At 5' 7", I can lie flat sideways and not touch the tent walls with either my head or my feet, meaning this could also double as a camping tent on warmer nights. I very much like the extra large door that doubles as a mat when on the beach or on the grass at a track meet. If I were camping, this would be valuable as well when packing gear into and out of the tent (I keep talking about camping, but I have never tried it with this tent. I just imagine how it would be now that I've had a chance to use the tent for other purposes). Another great feature of the tent is the windows. In my camping tent, I have always disliked having to zip and unzip my windows. I always seem to zip the nylon into the zipper. While windows with zippers are a must in the rain, I make a conscious effort to NOT camp in the rain. Instead of windows that zip, this tent has two simple latches on each corner of each window. It is crazy easy and convenient. The only place where this tent perhaps lacks is in the fact that this is not a popup tent. It's not a big deal, as it's plenty easy to assemble, but it's nowhere near as easy to set up as a popup tent. That said, popup tents have the advantage in the setup, but often cause grief in the takedown. It would be a tossup (no pun intended) on which one I would prefer. I'm excited to try this on the beach, but for now, it provides an amazing amount of utility for outdoor events.

WOW. This thing was pretty easy to setup. SUPER comfortable inside. Total blackout. Sturdy hardware. My husband and I are 330 between the 3 of us and there were no issues (the listing says 600lbs). I like how the instructions are attached to the storage bag but they are sparse and I wish they had more thorough instructions. I still don’t know what the extra mesh net is for. This thing is AMAZING. When we assembled it I said something to the effect of the people who camp in Australia need this ….then I see it’s an Aussie company! go figure! It is a bit pricey but it folds back up hide and small it’s just a tad heavy but you’re off the ground and safe! Definitely recommend.

I had never been camping before and was planning to take my five year old and one year old alone so I wanted to make sure it was a large enough tent to fir a queen sized air mattress and a pack n play. It is huge!!! Haha. We practiced setting it up in our living room at home and it didn’t fit in the room! Best part is I was able to do it alone with no other adult helping me. It didn’t rain when we were there so I can’t speak to the water proudness but has great zip up windows and doors and mesh “screens” to keep the bugs out Felt like a home away from home! Great tent! My boyfriend joined us on the last night and so we blew up another twin sized mattress and it all fit in there with room to spare.

Used these for my 9 year olds sleep over birthday party and they were a huge hit! Bright colors, perfect size, easy for parents to put together and durable . Five stars!

As a chronically pale person who easily overheats, I’ve forever been at the mercy of what little shade I can find at the beach. I’ve gone through a ton of umbrellas and smaller shade tents getting swept away by the wind or constantly needing to be readjusted to stay up. This silly looking 8-legged tent absolutely rocks. We set it up quickly with ease, the sand bags hold a ton of sand and are very stretchy. The singular central pole holds tension really well. We were comfortable in the shade for hours even with the beach winds against us. The fabric is really sturdy and 4 of us fit super easily in the shade, could have easily fit 2 more adults or a few kids. Love this funny tent! 10 outta 10 would recommend. Bonus, it stands out and is easy to find when you’re looking for your group from the water. Only minor draw back is you need a decent radius of area to fully stretch the arms out for support. If you were on an absolutely packed beach, it’d be harder to find a big spot to setup. No complaints for us though. Love this tent.

  • The sun shield is well constructed with substantial fabric. Maybe a little bit like a shower curtain? It has two plastic hooks to attach to the top bar on one end and a deep pocket for sand on the other. There’s a large mesh area to allow when to travel through. It looks fairly opaque so I think it will do a good job of providing additional shade.
