We got caught in a storm. Expected rain but the wind was only forecasted to be about 20 mph. Turns out gusts spiked to 40 mph and rain was very heavy for nearly an hour. The coleman tents held up no problem, small amount of water and no structural issues. The Wenzel was utterly destroyed and had about 1/4-1-2 inch of water standing in it.

My tent just arrived yesterday. I struggled on what to give this tent for a rating because I just got it. I was thinking about giving it a 3 for average which seemed fair to start with. But after seeing how it handled the wind without breaking or tearing, I decided to give it a 4 because it surpassed my expectations. I plan on using this tent quite a bit this summer so I will update my rating and review as I go. I found the assembly instructions to be very basic but adequate. Anyone who has put up a tent like this before will have no problem. It took me about 15 minutes. Anyway, I set my tent up in my back yard yesterday to see how it looked and how it took on the elements. My first test was wind. I have a weather station and the average wind speed was 7 to 8 mph with gusts up to 17 mph. The back of the tent was torward the wind and when the gusts would come, the back of the tent would bow it quite a bit. I have read the reviews some people have written and see some have had problems with the poles breaking. This is what I was afraid of as I watched the back of the tent bow in. I wish I had taken a picture because it was substantial. Anyway, the poles did not break and the tent returned to it’s original form when the gust passed every time. I have seen the video on whatcampingtent.com of the testing process Coleman puts their tents through. Not sure how much wind this tent is rated for but I’m pretty sure 17 mph is close to it’s max. The tent looks to be made very well for the price I paid for it. There are only two guidelines that come off the rain fly on the sides of the tent. The tent is staked down on all four corners of the floor plus a floor vent in the back of the tent. In all, there are only 7 stake down points that I could see. I feel if the tent had some guidelines higher up on each of the four corners of the main body of the tent it could withstand more wind. The stakes are ok but bend fairly easily if the ground is too hard or you hit a rock when pounding them in. I will be buying some better ones before I go camping. I left the tent up over night and checked on it this morning. It held up very well and only one of the stakes for the rain fly guidelines had twisted in the ground causing the guideline to come loose. I left the tent up because it was going to rain today. I need to know if I have any leaks before I take it out camping. It has been raining lightly for two hours now and my weather station says I’m getting .05 inches of rain an hour with a light steady wind of 2 to 3 mph. Far from what I would consider a hard rain but it’s still rain. I went out and looked at just the outside and the water seems to be beading up and running off the rain fly and tent very well. It is supposed to rain until 9 or 10 o’clock tonight so I will check for water on the inside in the morning. I’m hoping not to see any with such a light rain. If there is, I will definitely be spraying the tent down with a waterproofing spray before I take it out camping. Now for the pro’s and con’s. Pro’s: 1). Great tent for the price. If your on a fixed budget or are looking for a good starter tent you will not beat this one. 2). Very roomy inside. I plan on using this for two people, a shepherd and, all our gear. 3) There is an eyelet at the top of the tent so you can attach a lantern and two side pockets for stowing smaller needed items like a headlamp, cell phone, keys and, so on. 4). There is a small zipper in the bottom front left side of the tent for running wires. See my picture. It is covered by a little yellow strip of material to protect the zipper from the rain. You do not see this feature on most tents. I plan on using it with my solar panel so I can charge my power core, headlamp, cell phone and, other gear from inside the tent out of direct sunlight. 5). I was surprised at how much give the tent had at 17 mph gusts and did not break any poles or tear. It bounced right back to it’s original form. Con’s: 1). You may want to consider buying stronger tent stakes. 2). I wish there was a high point on each of the four corners for attaching extra guidelines. Although it handled 17 mph gusts very well the tent did bow in quite a bit. If I had to guess, the tent was reduce by almost half it’s size. If I was inside the tent I know I would have been annoyed being hit by it every time a gust came. I really don’t feel the tent as is, could handle much more then that. I’m thinking about how to attach extra guidelines in the corners without effecting the structural stability and elasticity of the tent. Make sure you pitch this tent in a sheltered area out of the wind if your expecting bad weather. Update 04/30/18 I went out the next morning after the light rain and the inside was dry. The following day saw more rain showers with substantially more rain. Checked the tent again today and it is still dry. After reading some of the reviews I really thought this tent would leak. Because this tent has preformed better then expected I have changed my rating to a five. I am going to seal the seams and spray waterproofing on the tent anyway because I would rather be safe then sorry. For the size and price of this tent you will not find a better deal. Just remember to pitch your tent in a sheltered area in you are expecting winds and you will not be disappointed. I think I have figured out a way to put up extra guidelines on each of the four corners so the tent will preform better with heavy gusts of wind. I will test it out and take pictures. More to come. That is all for now and there will be more updates coming.

Just set it up for a weekend camping trip and noticed two decent sized holes in the fabric near the top of the tent

I really like the little tent it packed small with both doors unzipped the air flows through nicely. It was a bit of a tight fit for my air mattress, but it did fit in there. It has a nice rain bonnet thing set up superfast. I always set up my tent on a little tarp so I had like a little 8 x 8 the tent already comes with a waterproof floor I’ve just learned to use it a tarp so it helps protect it from poking holes and things. It was very windy and held up well I would buy it again and recommend it to my friends.

Receive this a little while back. It was very well packaged. A little difficult to set up but one set up. It was very nice. On the second photo you You can see that one of the rod holders on top is missing completely. Poor construction design there. The overall quality of this is very good. I would say 7 out of 10. I'm using a futon mattress instead of the air mattress It's 6'1 you cannot fully stretch out inside a little cramped. Also, it could use a screen on the front entrance also, it could use a screen on the front entrance

I was worried about this brand being like others, they absolutely are not. This is a quality pole that will last me many years. The poles are very sturdy, as is the twist lock mechanism. These poles are able to infinitely adjust, while retaining that height for you to anchor these down tightly without collapsing.

4 person tent is true to size. Completely water proof. This tent is big enough for 2/3 people + a double size blow up mattress + gear/luggage. If you have a queen size mattress it will be snug inside. If you want more room for the queen mattress I suggest a 6 person tent. The rainfly stretches over the bug guard, there’s even a flap covering the zippers over each exits. There is a lamp hook inside. And sealed over every seam to prevent leakage. It is a less than 30 second set up, and an easy break down.

I travel a lot and my boyfriend can’t take the sun. I also have a daughter who like to just relax out of the sun so this was amazing ! Fits in most backpacks or just right on your back! Instead of renting chairs and umbrellas at every beach we go to we bring this! Especially for the beaches that are secluded and so t offer umbrellas! Super easy and lightweight! I highly recommend!

We’ve never been camping before, so we tested setting up this 6 person tent in our living room. It’s very simple and only took us about 20 minutes to get it up. Should be faster next time now that we know how it’s done. Kids loved it and spent the day playing in the tent. There are 5 of us (kids age 5-11) and looks like it’s enough space for us to sleep in there. We also put in a sleeping pad and it fit well

This tent is one of the most functional tent I've owned. It's very light, especially for its size. I really like how different this tent is, it has 3 doors, an inside pocket for gear storage, hooks to hang a lantern inside, 3 doors, the side can be used as an awning, or zipped closed, many guy out points for a good pitch, and a small vet at the bottom across the awning side for ventilation that can be opened or closed. On too of all that it comes with a footprint! The tent stayed very toasty with the stove. And since I wasn't having any issues with condensation, I wanted to push it and closed everything up including the small vent by the sleeping area. It got down to 30 degrees, and the following morning I only had the slightest condensation at the very top of the tent, but bot even enough to drip or run. The only way I could tell was by feeling it with my hand. I was actually really impressed. I thought for sure it would condensate a lot more. Had I left the small vent open I think it wouldn't have had condensation at all. I'll continue to test and post an update. Killer tent, really happy with it, love the way it looks!

Excellent quality, easy to use, so many compliments at campground

I’d give this tent a 4.5 stars. This tent was very easy to set up, less than 10 minutes mostly by myself. We set it up in the backyard before taking it camping to make sure there were no tears and to get a general idea of the size. Overall, it is a very good starter tent especially for the price. I hope it will hold up well over our next several trips. Pros: -Easy to set up -Screened patio is great for gear storage -Can fit two double air mattresses or one queen with some wiggle room -Looks great, good overall quality -Held up well in a southern rainstorm Some things to know: -Backside of the tent is just a bug screen. If you want any privacy, you have to set up the rainfly which completely covers the back and limits airflow -Limited number of pockets/hooks for gear inside the tent (only two small wall pockets) -Front screened patio has no rain protection -The tent seemed very taut on the poles, I am slightly worried about tearing in the future. Despite these few negative features, I’d say this is one of the best tents at this price range on the market.

This is a good tent a little tricky at first to put up and have all the walls tight, inner liner is helpful with keeping bugs out only thing I don’t like is the main pole is right in front of the mesh door so you have to go around it to get in and out of it. The first time I put it up I did notice there is a little hole at the top near where the main pole goes in the main part of the tent glad it wasn’t raining when I had it up or it would have been dripping on top of my stove also noticed when I took the mesh out there was a small tare in the tent behind where the mesh sits but besides that it’s a solid tent one improvement that could be made is a double zipper on the doors one at the top and one at the bottom so you can crack the top open and get fresh air flowing instead of having to unzip the whole door!

Just got this and immediately took it to my back yard and set it up. It literally took less than 30 seconds. This is just setting up the tent, not the rainfly or awning. It had a strong poly smell but after airing out for a few days the smell is largely gone. I took it camping for the first time and it was a delight. So easy to set up and so much space. The one downside is that the awning is also the door. So if you want privacy you have to take down the awning which is a bit odd. This tent is very similar to the Gazelle T4 with a few key differences — there’s bottom ventilation which is nice for air flow. The door is huge so it’s very easy to get in and out of. I got many compliments on this tent, but more importantly I appreciated the ease of use and finally being able to stand up in a tent. I didn’t use a foot print and no ground moisture got in, but I’ll likely use a foot print in the future so the underside stays cleaner and protected. Overall, I’m very happy with the tent.

So we bought this tent before we checked the weather of where we were camping. We set it up for the 1st time in 10-15 min max, including taking it out of the shipping box, laying tarps down, moving it, setting it up, then staking it. It was a joy not messing with 15 poles. It opened easy like an umbrella and then extend the legs. Easy peasy! About 3 hours after we arrived the Temps dropped into the mid 30s!!!!! We stayed pretty dang warm. Infact, at 4am I went out to for a potty break and felt the drastic difference in temperature inside the tent vs outside. The next three days brought poring rain and 40 degree Temps. We stayed warm and DRY! No leaks even with torental rain and heavy winds. This tent is way better than I expected. In the summer the large screen windows and side vents will help cool the tent down, I am sure. All in all highly recommend. We got the medium size. It fit our queen bed and two 49 inch dog beds. 2 folding chairs some tubs and tables. With space left to maneuver around. Did I mention durability. I have one 130lbs dog and one 100lbs dog. They are NOT gentle and the tent has stood up to scratching, trying to push the doors open, trying to poke nose through windows and screen doors. So it is durable! Great investment. If you are on the fence, I recommend buying it.
