Went camping for 5 days. Stayed in a tent, borrowed these tint steaks. Add some high winds, they worked excellent. So I ordered a set.
We overnighted this for our beach trip this weekend after reading a ton of reviews, and I’m so glad we did. Pros: it’s light weight, no rusting, and sturdy even on a windy day (it’s the beach, of course it’s windy), and has great coverage. Cons: it took more time (lots of sand digging) to set up than a regular canopy. I watched the videos beforehand and once we figured it out, it was very easy. We’ve been here for 5+ hrs and it hasn’t moved! Would definitely recommend! We’ve been through so many canopies in the past and I’m hopeful this one will last a long while! ETA: it was soooo easy to take down and pack up!!
I’ve owned a lot of tents and this is an amazing deal for a very good tent. Easy set up and take down, seemingly perfect seam stitching with ample tie down points and it all fits so easily in the stuff sack that I thought I must have left out some parts. Nope. It all fits. I’m a happy camper.
This seems like a decent quality piece but I ordered the 96” x 96” one and received the 8 x 10 foot size. I even reordered in an attempt to get the correct size and was sent the wrong one again. Disappointed that the description doesn’t match the product.
This is a fabulous beach tent. It is extremely lightweight and extremely easy to set up. The size is just absolutely perfect. I have one from the same company that is an eight person. That’s just too large for when I need it for right now. It is a well made and very durable. I love that you can leave both sides open or close one up. Perfect choice for a small family in this 3 person size! Also, the storage bag is roomy which makes it even better.
I bought this product after seeing the one I friend had camping a few weeks ago, they bought this exact product in grey and it had a silvering layer on the inside to help with sun protection, one of the main reasons I purchased it. I ordered in green and then in gray but neither had the expected silvering. I also noticed from the other reviews that the green color has not been consistent with a lighter green received vs the more army green that mine was. Update: I reached out to customer service and got a quick reply. They explained that the silvering added weight and the design was changed to make it more backpacking friendly. They also offered a discount due to not meeting my initial expectations. I did get a chance to try these out last weekend on a recent camping trip and the build quality was good and they worked well, updated review to reflect the good customer service and overall quality of the item.
I use these to stake down my tent when the ground is soft. I live in Michigan, and some parks have primarily sandy soil. These things work great. The included power driver bit allows you to detach the top loop and screw them into the ground the easy way. I don't need this feature for my primary use, but it could come in handy one of these days. My only complaint is that the detachable loops can come loose while unscrewing them from reasonably soft soil, forcing you to get a tool out to get it out of the ground. This can easily be fixed by using some wrenches to tighten the connection. I like the storage bag. It hasn't ripped yet, but I'm concerned that it won't hold up too long.
Three to four person tent. Will work great for me when I am up in the mountains camping. Plenty of storage room for one person. Definitely waterproof. However not for winter camping.
there's much to like here; the value, the appearance, the center height (I'm 6'0" and can easily walk around inside without bumping the top), the zippers (sturdy, and easier to zip/unzip than other tents I've owned), the wall material (thicker than other tents I've owned, suggesting good longevity potential), the big skylight windows (I saw 3 shooting stars the first night i used it!), and the "bathtub" design of the floor, in which the floor goes about 8 inches up the wall, suggesting rain likely not flowing in during a storm with running water around your tent -- though to be fair I've not yet had rain while using this. I've used this for 3 weeks now on a road trip through Colorado, Southern Utah high desert and canyon lands, and Northern Arizona desert, in temps between 3 degrees (f) and 60 degrees. it's holding up well so far. Will it keep you warm in cold temps? No, but it doesn't purport to be a 4-season tent, so no big surprise. Easily solved by bedding down with extra layers if it's cold. The problems: 1. The optional rainfly is NOT optional if you're camping in gusty winds. The rainfly itself and its tiedowns add to the tent's stability. Without the rainfly, the tent could not stand up when i faced wind gusts between 10 and 30 mph; it would buckle under and start collapsing. Once i finally got the rainfly on the tent (comically difficult to do as one person even when there isn't wind, and, I'm sure, hilarious to watch if there is wind), the tent held up well against the gusts. Bummer if no rain is forecast and you had hoped to watch for shooting stars as you lay in bed. 2. There are 3 poles on the roof of the tent; the two main ones that crisscross from corner to corner worked fine: hard to get into their tent pockets because of the tension, but manageable. However the shorter pole that goes over the roof to elevate and stabilize the tent front-to-back are so TIGHT that I work up a sweat every time i try to get it attached or detached from the tent. We're talking 5 minutes of struggle -- a big deal if it's raining, right? in fact, so tight that the last time i was taking the tent down, my struggles to get it off the tent resulted in a minor tear in the tent roof material. :( I finally gave up that time and just stuffed the whole tent WITH the roof pole attached into my car since i had to hit the road for an appointment. So unless you are very strong and extremely patient (I'm neither -- I've a weak left hand from an accident yrs ago. Which doesn't explain the impatience. No good excuse for that :) ), then all the good things about this tent may leave you with a sour impression. Maybe mine was flawed? seems more likely that this is a manufacturing/design defect than an anomaly of human error. I like the tent enough otherwise that i may send it back for a replacement, or just make a habit of bringing some workshop tool, such as vice grips, to give me better leverage next time.
Just got this and set it up in 5 minutes. I reas that a few folks were complaining about poles breaking. I have never done that and that's setting tents thousands of times. But a broken pole is easily replaceable. . The poles with this tent are the basic tent poles that come with large family tents. Very heavy duty and heavy. Ideal for this set up. Horrible backpacking tent poles they weigh a lot for tent poles. The part I like is how damn easy it is to set up how well it's designed which is typical kelty stuff. If you want to you could use telescope poles to lift it but why? Parties? My only regret is I didn't get the backroad version which allows it to be enclosed. Which I might just get and use both now that I think about it. Great value item. Oh and the fabric? Typical seam sealed 3 season tent material. Should last at least 10-15 seasons If not more with heavy usage.
Works great!! Easy setup and tons of shade! Half the cost of a Shibumi and works just as well! I think it might even be a little larger. 10/10 would recommend and purchase again!
Good quality product and lots of added features! Upon opening the carrying case i was pleasantly surprised to see how easily it popped up an open. The overhead shade easily zips off and allows just the bottom pool base by itself. It also has a small flap in the lower back that can flip up revealing a mesh opening that i assume allows more air to enter in. I haven't filled it with water just yet but will update when i do. The material of the pool is a standard inflatable material that can be punctured by a sharp object but strong enough not to obtain a hole if cared for. My order did not contain any stakes to hold the item down even though it was advertised to have contained 4 of them. It's a good value but leaving out part of what was promised is a 3 star rather than 5. i'll teach out to the seller and update accordingly.
As they say this tent is really easy to install and is compact enough once folded for easy transportation. The material is as good as any tent for this price range would be and looks sturdy enough. I think is a good addition to your tents if you like to go camping and don't want to struggle assembling tents. Definitely recommended!
A gift for my grandson. He had it up before I knew it. Took no time at all. He absolutely loves it! He had electricity in it with fans going as well as his music. His friends had plenty of room to visit. And I get “Grandma of the Year award!
I am thrilled with my purchase. I needed this tent to have cover through the winter when I take my dogs outside. They love to play for long sessions in the snow.I decorated it up, with some chairs, a small heater and some plants. It doubles as a greenhouse . What a bonus! It was super easy to set up and the clear vinyl is of good quality. I love my new girl fort, i mean tent. Oh, I forgot. First night I set it up, we had some strong wind and it was just fine. I have it pretty secure inside the outer edges with potted plants.
