Well-constructed and beautiful, it felt like we were on a photo shoot. I put it together with my children, and it was simple. The carrying bag made it easy to transport to the beach.
I am going to use this for my vegetable garden and believe I can fit about six or so five gallon buckets of different veggies in here.
Got this tent months ago to use in Sturgis. Over the years i have used 4 to 5 different tents, and this one tops them all! I was apprehensive about wether the tubes would stay inflated without having to add air daily like an air matress. 8 days and they stayed just as firm as the day i inflated them. The pictures were taken on day 8. Easy to set up, deflates and stores easily, and no poles to mess with. Handled the wind great. This is a heavy tent, and that is because it is made of heavy material. Did awesome in the rain. I also like the door on each end. Skylite panel is super. I lnow these are pricey, but in the long run well worth it.
I want to stress you how much I love this tent and I have been living in it since I got it. Not like I’m homeless, but I set it up in my backyard to see how easy it was set up before pirate invasion next weekend. And it’s been such a blast. I just left it up. This is water resistant and it really is, but it is open on the bottom and your cot will get wet. This is absolutely just a picnic tent. Do not think you can hang out in the rain in this unless you don’t care about your soggy bottom. You could buy the other version that has a mattress, but I didn’t think I needed that for what I was doing. I thought the sale was going to be perfect. If I had thought about this aspect, I might have spent the extra money on the mattress.
I have been on the lookout for a 2-person trekking pole tent for a while. There are some others on the market for a similar price, but about 6 inches narrower, so I've held out for a better option, and this is it. This one has a good footprint size for two. You probably won't be able to fit much gear inside with you, but that's expected for a 2-person tent. You can use the vestibule areas for gear.. I'm 6'1", and the length seems to be good enough for me...maybe okay up to 6'3-6'4". The materials all feel like good quality. I'm used to tarp-weight floors, and the floor of this tent is much lighter weight, so I will be using a footprint to protect my inflatable mattresses. Others may be comfortable going without a footprint. The design is not necessarily ultralight, but the relatively low weight was a good selling point for me to use on my 2-3 night trips. The full tent with all included supplies is 3 lbs 3 oz. on my kitchen scale. There are about 4 extra stakes provided, so that will cut weight a bit. But bringing two 10-oz. poles makes the total system weight between 4.5-5 lbs...not ultralight. But if you're already bringing trekking poles, this is a great weight for a backpacking tent. The design does not have a separate rainfly, but has a single-wall design except for the bottom 8-10 inches, where the rainfly separates outward and leaves an internal mesh bottom surround for air flow. I think it's a smart design. It is, however, a bit tricky to get the corners staked properly since there are two stakes at each corner, and they need to be placed properly for the tent to be taut in the right places. I definitely recommend practicing at home first. The seams appear to be sealed well, double doors are great to have, tent height is sufficient, vents and vestibules are easy to operate, zippers are decent quality, and the trekking pole receiver area is beefed up (though I won't be putting the metal points up in there). Instructions definitely leave something to be desired. They non-existent except for a small sheet with a few basic steps. Most of the setup is straightforward, but there are some guy-lines with non-intuitive cinch-hardware, which would have been nice to have instructions for. I figured out a way to make them work, but not sure if I'm using them as intended. Overall, this is a great tent and will probably be my #1 tent in the future.
Only have used on the beach 2x so far but it is AMAZING. Works so well keeping us cool and very shaded. Assembly and dissemble is SO easy and convenient and it’s nice and compact, not too heavy to haul! I did feel it was easier as a 2 person job, as a short as I am (5’3), it was hard to pull it all the way up and tie it off at the tip top. We also found it difficult to be a 1 person job bc you have to maintain keeping the poles straight, stretching the the fabric out amidst the wind, whilst pulling it upwards to secure the top. I can’t complain about that though because the product is much worth it and the two of us together got it up and down in only minutes time each time. The material is a little uncomfy to sit on when sand/wet sand gets on it so in the future I’m gonna lay a blanket out inside of it. We hung my LO’s stroller fan from the ceiling and it was perfect. My SO doesn’t favor the beach much and this made the days alot more enjoyable for him! He is also 6’1 and has plenty of room.
I'm not even joking. I always sleep better knowing this thing is right by me at night next to my bear spray when sleeping outside in questionable or really remote places. The weight of this thing and that claw could do some serious damage if it ever came to it. Plus, this hammer is weighted as well as how I imagine a small mace would be in older times. The handle and size make for a perfect fit attached to my adventure belt on my hip (sort of like bike messengers who carry their U locks the same way). Plus I feel better carrying my weapon with me when I am the most vulnerable (relieving myself). When nature calls I can take it with me to help dig *that* hole that is required. I imagine I'm reducing the life of this hammer by using the claw as a rudimentary pick and shovel, but it works and is one less thing to worry about. Hell, if I'm going to carry that weight around might as well put it to good use.
Early review: we haven’t got to use this much yet, I’ll add to the review later. But this is a really neat tent!! It fits a 2013 F150 (6.5 ft bed) with a cab heights Jeraco cap perfectly. It was easy to set up and take down, and the bag it comes with can extend to make sure it all fits. We had the thought that our exhaust pipe doesn’t go out the back end of the truck, not sure if it’ll make a difference in how it fits, but we don't have to worry about the heat from it ruining the tent. One thing I miss understood is that the 9x9 does not come with the screened in room. Also the canopy is a part of the rain fly, not the tent. Something to keep in mind. First Trip review: This is a fantastic tent and you should get one. We had no rain, so can’t comment on that. But the tent itself is very well made and thought out. We had it set up in maybe ten minutes. As of now I have no cons. It added space, air flow and functionality to our truck set up. Really love this thing! Another Rainy Trip Review: We took this tent on a multistate trip with our 2014 Jeep Compass. While in NH we met some rain. Not a storm but a moderate downpour. We would have been SOAKED if it wasn't for the preparations we made. I was VERY disappointed in the seems, you could see the water coming in. There was some water coming in from the area attached to the car, which was easily fixed. But ALOT of water came through the triangular seems on the other side of the tent. Since that trip I have sprayed waterproof twice and resealed the seems the best i could. we'll see how it goes. I will also add that my dogs ear was cut and began bleeding, and she shook her head and blood got on the tent. It cleaned up REALLY REALLY well, you can't even tell it happened. Very impressed on how easy it is to wipe down. Another trip review: We took this tent on another trip this year. We met quite a bit of rain and the tent is still getting watered down a bit. We have found that since the side that attaches to the vehicle does not have the addition of the rain fly, those seems tend to allow water in. Fixed with a tarp attached to the truck and the tent. We did find that the doors are not on the correct side for most campsites. The doors face away from where campers doors usually are set up. To get into the tent you have to go around the back or to the complete other side. Not a huge deal but lacks privacy and if you're in a small site then you would probably have difficulty using the doors. That goes for the canopy as well.
Great shade just what I wanted in Las Vegas sunshine.
I've been living in this tent full-time for a 2-3 months in the desert. While there are better ones I prefer for size and luxury, this thing is a surprisingly good tent for the money. As someone who has lived in a few different tents while doing outdoor work, here are my thoughts: Assembly: Ridiculously easy to assemble. Almost too easy. It feels overly simplistic at first, but fortunately my worries were put to rest over time. Packed Size: This is where it shines. I've lived in larger, more comfortable tents that took up 4 times as much space as this one when packed up. The tent case is effectively a small duffle bag, an almost negligible concern regarding volume it takes up in a car or closet. Waterproofing: It's taken a few pretty solid storms without any leaks. I trust it in thunderstorms no problem. Windproofing: This is where the desert truly tests it! Sustained 30mph winds are not uncommon. I am very impressed with how well it holds up, although it does keep me on edge at times. **With proper assembly and ALL rainfly reinforcement lines tightened down tight. Without all of these variables being perfect, it will not hold up (as with all tents of this shape/design)** Size: I decided to opt for a 6-person instead of an 8-person this time, and regret it. It feels a lot smaller than the floor dimensions suggest. For sustained use, consider a larger size. Durability: It sits in the sun all day, gets pounded by dirt, and I haven't even managed to put a hole in the floor yet. I'm admittedly pleasantly surprised Downsides: Simplicity. This tent is aggressively simple. You are getting no added luxury (but you're not paying for it either) Lack of windows. This is arguably the biggest drawback. You have the door which doubles as a window, and that's it. No options for additional airflow Door cover. While the tent overall is solid, the piece that hangs out horizontally over the door is not. This is a minor inconvenience more than anything, but with how flimsy it is it feels unnecessary. Stakes. The included tent stakes are pretty poor. That being said, that's standard for a lot of tents, and to be expected. Rainfly connection. Every now and then the velcro connection points on the rainfly come undone. Not a big issue, just be aware of it if using for more than a few days. Light penetration. This is not a blockout tent. Despite the dark color, the sun will pound you in the morning. Again, not a problem that is limited to just this tent, but something to be aware of. **A couple items of note, on general tent use** With all tents, I spray the exterior seams, rainfly, and various surfaces with waterproofing material. Similarly, I tarp the bottom and use aftermarket tent stakes for the type of soil (corkscrews for loose sand, higher end straight stakes for packed dirt) as opposed to the included stakes. This review (and how I consider it fully waterpoof and highly windproof) is written with both of these assumptions. Overall deal for the money? Stellar! One of the best deals out there. Would I buy it again? Probably not, but I'd still recommend it in a heartbeat to anybody for weekend use, or long-term use for a smaller person.
It's huge! Plenty of space for a queen sized mattress and our blow up couch with even more room to spare. Set up was easy for two people who are seasoned at putting up tents. We even experienced a severe thunorm with winds and rain while we were camping in it and it held up great. Pictures of the inside are of two separate times we used it and set up the inside differently.
Product was everything I had hoped it would be. Great instructions and packaging. Worth every penny. I was skeptical about the cost but no regrets.
I like this tent it is easy to use set up and take down. I like you can open the windows if you want or leave the door open by rolling up and securing. The floor tarp is included but separate piece havent really had to use that yet but like thats it included along with the ceiling cover that can be installed. I bought the larger one but don't think I could fit 4 chairs in there 2 yes not 4. It can be a little tough to see through at times it has to be a straight view or things are blurry but I'd rather have that than be drenched or cold from the wind. I used it for my 3rd time today and unfortunately I noticed there is a tear in the plastic above the door zipper. First time I used it was for rain, second cold and today rain and cold. I will continue to use it, just sucks its already ripped. Hope that this is the only spot that I have an issue with and the door zipper continues to work and doesnt cause the rip to get worse.
You cannot deny that dd tarps makes the best and most versatile tarp out there. Super happy with it and plan on buying a bigger size to go camping with the family.
The first two pictures are of the two separate door zippers. One had a hole and the other door zipper was not totally stitched leaving an open gap. I sent this tent back and received a replacement tent. Easy return and prompt replacement. The second and third pictures are from the replacement tent. The stitching on the tent body had a large section were it looked like the threads ran out. Very large area had "off" stitching. I saw this as a possible weakness in the tent. Also, one of the clips that attach the rainfly to the tent body was on the underside of the tent strap. I had to twist it to get it clipped in and then it would not hold tight. I sent the second tent back for a refund. They charged me $37.99 for a re-stocking fee! Charged me for a defective tent times two! Re-stock?? I hope no one gets these defective tents. Do not buy!
