I love this tent! Received it in July and waited until I had camped a few times to write a review. It's just me (F 5'9") and my 100# dog so I can't speak to having multiple people share this tent. Pros: *Super easy to assemble solo *Extra head room *Waterproof - it poured for an entire day in August and everything in the tent stayed completely dry *It truly is very dark. A little disorienting waking up unsure what time it is at first and I needed a flashlight during the day to find things in the tent *Storage mesh on the ceiling to easily find items *Queen mattress plus room for my bag fit with a little extra room to spare Cons: *It already has one tear. No idea what snagged it but it was an easy repair. I had my last Colman tent for years without any tears *I wish the rainfly came out a little further from the door to protect from rain when entering/exiting (Campground is Union Valley Resevoir in El Dorado National Forest in California)
This canopy far exceeded my expectations. After using it for a week, I’d guess almost all the bad reviews are for one reason: they didn’t fill the sandbag anchors enough. When you think you’re done filling the sandbags, you’re not. Keep filling them until they really can’t hold anymore sand. We learned this after the first couple days and a week of decent pacific winds. Setup is super simple: 1- Lay it out in a large X. 2- Fill bags with sand, following the advice above. 3- The X should not-loose, but not pulled so tight that inserting the poles causes the sandbags to drag across the sand. 4- Insert poles. 5- Enjoy shade and views in all directions. I had previously purchased the smaller version of the Ranch Fire Teepee Tent, for 2-4 people. Decided to go bigger, for a little more room. From my first impression set up, it's the same great quality. Solid stitching and reinforcements where needed. Zippers work smoothly and velcro added to the flaps, give extra protection from rain. Comes with decent tent stakes, which are always a plus. Not like the cheap ones, that a lot of tents come with. I also purchased the floor and screen tent for inside, to give it more versatility. (there were coupons for both , if you bought them separately) I can use this tent year round, with the add ons. They're not necessary in the winter or if you just want the fly as a shelter, but make a nice setup, if you buy them all. Love this one too!! Looking forward to taking it on our next adventure !!
I have attached three pictures which are the 6 stakes, a close-up of one of the stakes and a firewood splitter that I anchored to the ground with 4 of the stakes. The stakes are just under 12 inches long (11.81 inches) and .31 inches in diameter. They are shaped like the letter "J". These are heavy duty stakes and are not likely to bend unless you use extreme effort. The whatcampingtent.com product description says they are made with high-grade steel and have a galvanized coating so they will not rust. The point of each of the stakes is quite sharp - FYI. The close-up of the stake was included so you see the stakes have little "ribs" on them and will help to keep them in the ground. I have a firewood splitter which I used 4 of the stakes to hold to the ground so it would not move while I was splitting wood. I pushed the stakes into the ground with my hand and then tapped them the rest of the way with the 15 pound sledge hammer I was using to split the wood. They did a good job of holding the firewood splitter in place. After I split 6 logs I looked and only one of the stakes had "risen up". I just tapped it back down with the sledge hammer I was using. If/when the ground freezes the stakes will not move. The last picture I attached to this review shows the 4 stakes I positioned around the bottom ring of the firewood splitter. These stakes have many uses. If you are looking for some heavy duty stakes to hold something securely to the ground you should consider the QNLONG 12 inch stakes. They will get the job done!
Marcy at Gear Out Here (the distributor for aqua quest) was great when I had a seam issue. It didn’t leak but looked like a sewing machine just ran out of thread and missed a little bit. New replacement sent as promised. Excellent product and has NOT leaked once in 5 uses. The most wonderful place/sound is a rainstorm under the tarp in a hammock… period! I’ll be saving up for the 10x13 next as the 15x15 is great for a picnic I’d like to have a little smaller one for just my hammock. Durability is very good so far, it’s the heaviest tarp so it’s great when you don’t care about grams you’re hiking with. It’s easy to adjust due to so many tie outs. The tarp looks nice and I’ve had numerous guys come by my set up and comment on how nice or cool the tarp is. It’s very quiet in the wind unlike cheap tarps and with the multiple tie out options you’re bound to find you’re perfect tie off. This tarp does seem to retain heat well if you need it for an enclosed shelter.
This is my second one from them. I really like it so I order a shorter option. Held up well in windy conditions.
Bought this beach tent for our recent summer outing. Love that it came in a bag, easy to store away. The tent worked well by blocking the sun and wind. Felt sturdy and looking forward to using it for an upcoming picnic.
Time will tell how well this will hold up and whether I will need to waterproof it. But for the price, I'm very impressed even if I do have to waterproof it. It's seam taped, has decent zippers and it's versatile in how open to the air you can configure it. There's a stove jack for a tent stove. I'm glad I didn't get a smaller one because the tipi design is not as big as it might seem on paper. It has a loop on top so you can hang it between trees and forego the middle pole which makes a big difference in that regard. This is a potential safety concern if you run a stove in there. There are reports of similar tents collapsing when their loop broke (more likely in rain or especially snow) so bear that in mind. The pegs are versatile but a little weak. I've included a picture that shows it hanging from a rope, I don't have it set up perfectly but it does the job well. I think I got the 2 person one without inner. The listing was a little confusing. I think it's mostly on sale for $80 which beats everyone. It also had a $15 coupon when I got it so $65! For my needs it's better than the $260 tent I sent back. Pretty happy with this.
Great addition for adventures! Small bag so it’s easy to carry and store, Easy to set up and also to put back in the bag, great ventilation and height. Adults can lie down comfortably, materials seem good quality, nice layout, windows in the front and back, removable rainfly. We have used it on windy, cool days (40-50 degrees Fahrenheit), and you feel fine and warm inside.
Love this tent! It’s durable and extremely convenient. I love not having to mess with the tent poles to set it up and it folds up into a very compact carrying bag. 10/10 recommend! Every camper needs this tent.
This thing is AMAZING!!! I was nervous based on the reviews saying it’s not the right size for a 10x10 canopy tent, but it was a PERFECT fit for our 10x10 slant leg canopy tent! We went camping this weekend for the first time and it worked flawlessly. I put the whole thing up in our garage before we went JUST to make sure. It was incredibly easy to put up! I’m not one to read directions.. and I just pulled it out of its bag and clipped it up. Self explanatory and so easy!! It was a breeze to set up and take down at the campsite too. It was spacious and had plenty of space to stand up inside and for all of our stuff. We fit a queen size inflatable air mattress and a child air mattress for our daughter and had plenty of room to spare and move around. This is one of the best purchases I’ve made from whatcampingtent.com! The top of the tent is netting, but the canopy part of your pop up canopy covers it. The great thing about this design is that it allows for ample air flow even without the windows having to be unzipped. During the day we attached one of the side walls to our pop up canopy over the back tent wall for extra protection from the hot sun. It clipped right on over it flawlessly. Bottom line- this tent attachment for your 10x10 pop up canopy tent is a MUST HAVE!!!! You won’t regret it! (( camping hack — we purchased under cabinet lighting bars from whatcampingtent.com a while back to use in our low lit kitchen. They are magnetic on the back and rechargeable. We took them camping with us and they easily attached to the metal frame of our Pop up canopy right under the canopy on all sides for the perfect lighting around the outside of our tent!!! It was pure darkness out there at night and using those were a game changer!! ))
I love this mesh tent deal and it really enhanced our camping trip! My partner didn't think it was necessary but I know the bugs are out and I wanted to make sure they didn't join the party. We brought it box unopened to the camp site and had no issues with setting up. It basically pops up once the bands holding it together are removed. I needed my partners height to connect the 3 rods at the dome area. Having some type of tarp or rug will make things much more cozy, be sure to pull the flaps outside of the tent to prevent bugs from getting in. With some battery operated string lights, we were able to hang outside bug free much later and could've stayed all night were it not for rain. The tent kept light rain at bay but we had to retreat to our sleeping tent once it really started to come down. I REALLY wish this company offered "Rain" shades as they sell "Sun" shades but I don't think that's needed since the mesh is black and provides great sun protection. Now putting this thing away... that's a whole different story. I actually cried a little trying to get this thing bent enough to be put away. The instructions just don't add up, it popped back open on me several times. Ultimately took 2 people to put it away, it'll never fit in the case provided, that time is gone. I set it up on my porch to dry after rinsing it off and it's actually been great. It's too large for my 7x10 ft patio but I live next to a creek meaning bugs galore so I'm leaving it up the rest of the summer. I appreciate the sun/bug protection and it's been great to be outside at night without being pestered. I heard my neighbors and their friends gasp and someone actually said "oh wow" when I stepped out of the tent last night. Not going to lie, I felt kind of cool. Their shock and awe leads me to believe other people would find this tent beneficial for more than camping, maybe patio or yard use. Looking forward to taking this on outdoor hangs with friends. I'd totally recommend this tent, just know it'll be work to put it away, it's not rain protected and having a floor mat elevates the whole feel.
These metal tent stakes work fine for their purpose. They are 9" long and not easy to bend However, both straight and curved ends of all the metal stakes are cut very sharp. So to be safe you will need to hit both ends with a file. Before and after pics of the straight ends of some of the metal stakes showing what I did.
Camping of course in a semi remote area. Once we opened the tent to set it up the bolt that holds everything together for popping it up was not attached and the tent fell to many pieces. Luckily we found the washer and the nut and spent better part of an hour trying to reassemble the tent so that we could set it up. The downside was we started just before sunset and then it turned dark making everything that much harder to put together. We figured it out after a few choice words and we were happy with the tent after. For price point it’s a good tent, but like anything nothing is made with any type of quality. Loc tight that bolt! Just saying
