Excited to use this for the summer beach trips! We set it up quickly in the backyard to see how it worked. Took about 10 minutes to figure it out with two of us— I know once we set it up at the beach it will be sturdier with more sand. This is perfect for when you don’t want to bring your bigger tent and parking may be far from the beach since it’s so lightweight. It has good spf!

  • I have hiked and backpacked throughout the United States and Canada. I am always looking for hiking gear. I saw this footprint and asked whatcampingtent.com to review it. In backpacking the term footprint refers to a barrier (generally a waterproof material) that you place under your tent. There are 4 sizes of footprints you can order on this website. I ordered the largest one, which is 7 feet 5 inches long and 7 feet 1 inch wide. I did not order it to be used as a footprint because I use a much lighter material: generally a very thin plastic tarp. This weighs 13.6 ounces with the carry bag and 13.2 without it. I can make a lightweight footprint out of plastic that weighs less than half this weight. Had I wanted a footprint for my tents I would have ordered the 86 X 59-inch footprint. It weighs 9.8 ounces, which isn’t bad for a footprint. The reason I ordered the largest is because I will use it for much more than a footprint. This footprint is made out of a thin waterproof material. It has 4 grommets: one on each corner. The material is pretty strong. I put additional 4 grommets on it, and it was hard to tear the fabric. I have no doubts that it will hold up in the wind and rain. You might ask, what am I going to use it for? My answer is a lot of things in the wilderness. I, or someone in my group, have always packed a waterproof rectangular waterproof cover for the rain. You can attach it to trees, and you have yourself a nice little eating area. You can put it over your tent, and it gives you extra protection. If something happens to your tent you can make a small tent or cover your damaged tent. If someone gets hurt, you can protect the person from the elements. If you get caught outside in a sudden rainstorm without your rain gear, you can put this over your body and stay dry. There are just so many things you can use this for. I am not a survivalist but if I was caught in a wilderness area and couldn’t go home right away, I could survive with this footprint. Whenever you put on a daypack or a backpack you should always ask yourself is the weight of the gear worth carrying it. For this footprint my answer is yes. In addition, to my first aid kit, whistle, flashlight, compass, and several other essential things, I will add this footprint to my pack.

So happy with this tent. I don’t usually leave reviews, but I spent hours debating which one to buy thats worth the price and quality. I decided to give this one a try and have no regrets! Easy set up, very large, sturdy in the wind, easy to take down, great shade coverage and easily adjustable. Will keep for future trips. Also, the material is so soft and beautiful. I would recommend this product to anyone.

I mean the tent is gorgeous first off. I love the print. The fabric is so soft and smooth. This thing is incredibly easy to put up. The first picture is of it up and in 12 mph wind at pcb. We have used this for 4 days in a row and it has changed the game for me. I'm very fair skinned and always burn. With this lovely tent, I can stay out all day. This fit 4 adults (each with their own chair) and a cooler and bags. Not to mention, it is sooo light weight. So easy to carry. American made. So easy to fold up and put away. I can't speak to durability yet, since it's new.. but it seems like a real quality item

This is just based on first impressions as have not actually used overnight or on the trail yet and just an initial setup. I will update this once it's gotten some usage. I provide workshops to beginner and novice backpackers who are just getting started or interested in backpacking and one of the biggest questions is how much does this cost? Obviously most people are not going to go out and spend oodles of money on something they don't know they are going to like, so I started putting together several modest budget kits to see what could be done for under $500 and selected this tent as an option. Experienced hikers/backpackers - This is NOT ultralight. I have several 2lb 2-person tents (SMD Haven, Big Agnes TigerWall 2) and I chose this one based on whatcampingtent.com reviews, the listed weight and size, and that it is free-standing which is easier for beginners. For those starting out and fully 2 person tent, it's 5.1 lbs according to my scale (Seller lists as 5.5lb) and this could be stripped down a bit more by swapping out lighter bags (or no bags) for stakes and pole, reducing # of stakes and/or replacing the stakes. I'll have to do more weighing but here is what my scale came up with: Alum Stakes + 4 guy lines in sack: 7 oz. Alum Pole in sack: 14 oz. Fly: 28 oz. Body: 32 oz Total (minus stuff sack): 81oz - 5.09 lb Setup was super easy, I specifically picked this tent because the inner tent clips on to the poles and had a single pole (double-Y) design. The elastic on the pole was just right so that a couple shakes and the pole almost self-assembled. The Y connectors are solid alum disks like on most high-end tents of similar designs and at 14 oz. respectable given the size and space provided by having a cross pole in the center opening the living space. The pole sections are short (10-12 inches) making them fit easier in a pack and the joints have a 1.5-2" connectors for strength and stability. The material is obviously heavier than ultralight tents but they have done a good job of mixing material weights where most needed with heavier (Floor and fly) and lighter (Walls and mesh). There was some less refined edges (fraying material that wasn't trapped in seams or heated) and while the fly is fully seam taped, only the bathtub floor is with side wall seams not (see pictures). The fly comes all the way to the ground, but it wouldn't take much to seal all the seams and for the price, you could easily do this yourself. Only field testing and time will tell how well the seam tape holds up but all tent users/backpackers learn that at some point you have to redo this yourself anyway. The stakes while aluminum are not the typical thin shepherd hook ones found in similar priced tents (and pictured in the product listing). They have gone with slightly thicker ones with an octagon profile so they are light but still felt incredibly strong and they give you 12 of them! You could easily reduce this to 6 (2 for vestibule/doors and 4 for corners) The Double-Y pole gives lots of head room though that could make it a sail in the wind. To combat this they have included 4 guy out points on the fly allowing you to better secure everything. This is one way you can reduce weight. Since it's free standing with the pole inserting into grommets at each corner and the fly clipping to those same corners, when using the fly you don't need to stake the corners of the inner tent and can instead stake down the fly, reducing the # of stakes. This tent floor area is also completely rectangular making it easily 2P or 1P with ALL your gear inside. The zippers on the doors (one on each side) worked smoothly and are built with no way for fabric to snag (even the fly doors) The inner tent doors have double (open either direction) zippers which is nice as you can unzip from the bottom enough to reach out to the vestibule. There are equal sized vestibules on each side which aren't big but enough you could put your shoes, cook pot, etc. under and if using as a 1P you have a back porch! Each end of the fly also has vents that can be opened from the outside to reduce condensation. It would have been nice for the fly doors to have double zippers to allow venting at the top of them as well. I don't see anywhere that they sell a footprint but I have made ones for all my tents out of tyvek with reinforced grommets for the poles and you could easily adapt the fly connectors where you could use the fly without the inner tent and just a footprint and poles. They have included stash pockets in EVERY corner and an overhead gear loft that is detachable. They also include a hook in the center to hang a lantern, etc. but this is the third fault I found as the gear loft when installed prevents use of this hook (see photos). It would be better if they moved the hook to one of the ends so it would be usable along with the gear loft, but the loft installs/removes easily with toggles. Pros: - EASY Setup - Pole snapped together quick (almost on it's own with a couple shakes) - Pole and fly connect easily with clips and grommets - Fly covers all the way to the ground - Great interior space (I'm 5'11" and had easily a foot to spare in length and could almost stretch my arms to the sides) - STASH pockets everywhere - Good stakes Cons: - No Seam sealing on all seams: just those exposed to ground or on fly - Workmanship: some fraying, loose threads and scraps found stuck to it - can tell it was built on a factory line - Weight? Not bad - decent for a starter: 5lbs or $17/lb (in comparison my Tigerwall 2 is $200/lb) Initial thoughts are that this indeed would be a great starter tent for someone getting into backpacking. I've included this tent as part of a sub $500 starter kit I'm compiling (https://www.lighterpack.com/r/m60i3h) and so far this is going to be my go to recommendation for tent as the weight to price to size to feature ratios are excellent. $85, 5.1lb, 32.6 Sq Ft, 2P free standing

We needed a decent sized tent for a queen mattress for backyard camping that was easy to set up. We have 2 other tents from Costco but they’re huge. This one was the perfect size for just me and my 4yr old son to put in the backyard since he wanted to look at the stars! We got it set up so fast and so easily. My husband forgot to turn off the sprinklers so the next morning we were woken up by the sound of sprinklers but the water never got in and we stayed dry. Definitely recommend. My only issue is the zipper is not super easy to use from the inside. So you have to stick your hand out and pull the zipper down as where most tents I’ve had there is a dual zipper for in and out for easy opening/closing. Other than that, great tent

Easy to set up, easy to use, easy to take down. Very spacious. I gave it 4 stars for warmth but I don't think its meant to be a super warm shelter, that being said it seemed warmer than outside when I used it. I used it to shower in once and the mesh floor was a nice touch. The flooring in the shower side is actually padded for bare feet in mind which is great. It does exactly what its supposed to and I think is well worth the price. I'd like to add that we had high winds in the area we used the product, and when using the tie downs it remained very rigid and sturdy.

Upgraded to this tent cause my twins and I didn’t have enough room in our small Coleman tent. Plus I wanted to camp at anytime of year. We did a test camp in the backyard to break it in and see how much space everything would take up. Plenty of room for everything we have. (Full bed, single cot, backpacks, cooler, heater.) Very impressed with the quality and materials. I don’t see any defects so far. This was very easy to setup. My only negative is that I bought this like a week to early. It’s currently 30% off. And if you’re thinking about getting this, I would highly recommend it.

I love the looks of this tent and it's design. However, for the price I paid I'm slightly disappointed that there's a small hole on the right side of the door close to the cord slot. Its not a large hole but big enough for water to leak through. I was also missing one of the silver pieces of the pole that connects the pole to the corner bottom of the tent. I was able to replace the missing silver piece with a piece from my old tent. I'm hoping the seller will contact me and offer me a replacement or atleast a leak proof patch or something to correct the leaky hole. If so, I will update my review because other than that, I really enjoy this tent.

I am fairly new to camping and I bought this 2 person tent as my first tent in 2020. I chose it because it is 3 season, the reviews said it was roomy for a 2 person tent and that the rainfly was effective, and I love the color (and price point!). It has been perfect! It is easy to set up, even on my own when I go solo camping (I'm a 5'2" woman and had never set up my own tent before), and definitely is roomy for 1 person and works fine for 2 people. The front and back vestibules (when the rainfly is on) are really helpful for storing shoes and also providing a bit of a screen first thing in the morning when opening up the entrance. The rainfly was effective during some light showers last time I was camping, and the interior hook and pockets are really helpful (especially if 2 people are in the tent, since there is not much additional floor space). I did hand sew in some cords inside on the seam allowance to hang string lights which I love but of course isn't necessary :). The tent packs up really well in the provided duffle and is small enough that when I took a friend with a tiny apartment camping she got very excited that she might be able to store some camping essentials, which she previously hadn't thought possible. My only slight issue has been that the tent stakes can bend pretty easily if you use a mallet or your foot, so if you camp often on harder or rocky ground you may need to invest in some higher quality stakes (I haven't had an issue re-using the bent ones on softer dirt, and the set does come with extra if you do bend one and can't use it, which is great). I definitely did also buy the footprint that comes separately - if you are very good about folding your tent you can fit that into the duffle bag as well. All in all this has been a great tent - I've used it in sweltering heat in sand dunes in Texas and in 35 degree F January nights in California and it has held up beautifully.

went far beyond my expectations this tent is INSANELY HUGE easy too set up fit my fiat 500L which is an SUV if i could give this more stars i would

  • This tent is really nice. It is very convenient for us to take our children to the park for camping. The tent is of very good quality and has enough space. My eight-month-old child can safely put him in it to crawl and play. I like that it can be ventilated on all sides. It also has a mosquito and insect repellent cover, which is my favorite. I don't worry about the baby's safety. It may be a little unsmooth to fold it for the first time, but it is easy to master the skills. In short, it is a very good shopping experience and I am satisfied.

I have been backpacking for most of my life. I am 36 years old and I know that in some instances paying for quality is definitely worth it, but in today's world finding lightweight quality tents is so expensive. Tents these days from the big brands and from the cottage vendors can easily be $400-$700 and to me, that is just way too much money for a tent. I believe if you take care of your gear, it will take care of you. I found this tent on whatcampingtent.com and after reading reviews, decided to pull the trigger and I have been very happy with my purchase. I have taken this tent out on 5 trips now and it has done a fabulous job. It's lightweight and easy to set up. I live in Northern California and the picture above is of a winter camping trip I did at Bassi Falls. I do agree with some of the other reviews that even though this says it's a two-person tent, you will be right on top of each other, however, when backpacking, this is kind of expected and I use it for my solo tent and it's great because then it offers a ton of space for me and I have even taken my dog and we both have fit in here nicely. I would say if you are new to backpacking, maybe try a more entry-level tent(cheaper price range) (make sure you enjoy backpacking first), I think this is a great tent for someone who is past the beginner stage on backpacking but is not at the point where they want to dish out $500+ for gear yet.

I like the Pod I bought for youth Baseball games. It breaks the wind so helps with the cold. Con: Bought pod for 2, but 2 folding chairs won’t fit side by side. Pod too narrow.
